This announcement from the former world number one came after the Washington Open<\/a>, where Osaka was left confused following her defeat to Emma Raducanu<\/a>.<\/p>\n There has been a lot of speculation about who will coach Osaka next<\/a>, with it being announced that Wiktorowski will be joining her at the Canadian Open<\/a> for a trial.<\/p>\n While Wiktorowski has never coached Osaka<\/a> before, he did make comments about her match against Iga Swiatek<\/a> at Roland Garros<\/a> in 2024.<\/p>\n Wiktorowski coached Swiatek until October<\/a> last year, after enjoying three years of great success together.<\/p>\n One of those great successes came at Roland Garros in 2024, but that was nearly not the case after Swiatek suffered a big scare.<\/p>\n In the second round of Roland Garros that year, Swiatek saved a match point to beat Osaka<\/a> in a thrilling match on Court Philippe-Chatrier.<\/p>\n Swiatek did not drop a single set after that match, with Osaka providing the biggest threat to her at the Paris major in 2024.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n After helping her win Roland Garros once again, Wiktorowski told Eurosport<\/a> at the time that he thinks the match against Osaka gave Swiatek some perspective. <\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s been an incredible journey for us,\u201d Wiktorowski said in May 2024. \u201cThree two-week tournaments in seven weeks plus Stuttgart, I was like, \u2018Wow, we\u2019ve been given a crazy plan,\u2019 but we knew somebody did it before us, so we knew that it was possible. I\u2019m super proud of all my team and Iga especially.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not sure if [the Osaka match] helped, but it gave some perspective that it was not going to be easy. She passed through the match, defended the match point, and she made it.<\/p>\n \u201cIt gave some confidence and some perspective to us that we need to do something a bit more because that was the second round and that was a super tight and tough match. Maybe it helped, maybe not. I\u2019m just happy that we\u2019re here today.
