\n\tBe it by sea or by air, Jerry Bruckheimer<\/a> is ready to get to work on his next major franchise blockbuster.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 2x Oscar nominee recently gave a status update on the upcoming installments in the Pirates of the Caribbean<\/a> and Top Gun<\/a> franchises, noting that he is \u201cexpecting a script shortly\u201d on the latter.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think it\u2019s a horse race between the two of them, so we\u2019ll see,\u201d Bruckheimer told Entertainment Tonight<\/a>. \u201cRight now, Top Gun is a hair ahead, but that\u2019s it. We\u2019re expecting a script shortly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough he wouldn\u2019t divulge any details, Bruckheimer noted that he\u2019s met with Margot Robbie<\/a> about the next Pirates film, hinting at her involvement.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn 2024, Bruckheimer updated that Jeff Nathanson was writing a reboot of the Pirates franchise<\/a> after penning the fifth installment, Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017). Additionally, the separate Christina Hodson-penned spin-off starring Robbie was also in development.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough Bruckheimer said that he thinks Johnny Depp would reprise his role<\/a> as Jack Sparrow in a reboot if it\u2019s written well, the producer previously noted the next installment will be a reboot<\/a>.<\/p>\n
