\n\tFormer late-night host Samantha Bee<\/a> is giving her take on CBS cancelling \u201cThe Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring a recent appearance on the \u201cBreaking Bread with Tom Papa<\/a>\u201d podcast, Bee said she believes that ending Stephen Colbert\u2019s \u201cLate Show\u201d was a \u201cfinancial decision,\u201d as cited by CBS<\/a>, but also thinks it was in part to \u201ccurry favor with the president\u201d amid the merger<\/a> between Paramount, CBS\u2019 parent company, and Skydance.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think both things are true,\u201d she said. \u201cIt definitely was hemorrhaging money. These legacy shows are hemorrhaging money with no real end to that\u2026in sight, people are just not tuning in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBee added, \u201cPeople are literally on their phones all the time for one thing, so they actually don\u2019t necessarily need a recap of the day\u2019s events. They\u2019re very well-versed in what has happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe went on to explain that while hosting her TBS show \u201cFull Frontal,\u201d which ran for seven seasons from 2016 to 2022, not stirring controversy during network mergers was a \u201cconstant source of conversation.\u201d From her experience, it seemed like a \u201cno-brainer\u201d for CBS to end \u201cThe Late Show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s so much easier for them to cut it loose with this merger coming down the pike,\u201d Bee said. \u201cIt makes the decision such a no-brainer, and probably the most agonizing decisions they were having were about how do we float this? How do we not get a lot of blowback? I\u2019m sure they knew it was happening a long time ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAlthough blunt about the fate of Colbert\u2019s \u201cLate Show,\u201d she still thinks the sudden cancellation was \u201cawful.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI love Stephen,\u201d she said. \u201cI consider him to be a friend. I think he\u2019s amazing.
