MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -Public Health Madison & Dane County is investigating a new measles exposure in Dane County. The exposure is not related to the confirmed case of measles reported last week.<\/p>\n
An out-of-state traveler who stayed the night at the Holiday Inn Express, 5150 High Crossing Blvd., Madison tested positive for measles.<\/p>\n
Their stay was Friday, Feb. 6 from 12:01 a.m. to 12 p.m.<\/p>\n
Exposure timeline and symptoms<\/p>\n
Public Health is reaching out directly to known contacts of this individual but does not have a full list of possible exposures.<\/p>\n
Measles symptoms appear 7 to 21 days after exposure to the virus. <\/p>\n
If someone can confirm they are vaccinated, it\u2019s extremely unlikely they will get measles, but it is still important to monitor for symptoms, according to PHMDC. <\/p>\n
Public health officials are asking anyone exposed to measles that develops symptoms, to stay home and stay away from others. <\/p>\n
Do not go to work, school, shopping, or use public transportation and call the doctor\u2019s office or clinic.<\/p>\n
