\n\tHollywood tributes are pouring out for Robert Duvall<\/a>, who died on Sunday<\/a> at the age of 95.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuvall\u2019s death was announced on Facebook<\/a> via a statement from his wife, Luciana Duvall.<\/p>\n

\n\tAdam Sandler<\/a>, who appeared alongside Duvall in the 2022 film \u201cHustle,\u201d shared a heartfelt remembrance<\/a> on Instagram. He wrote that the Hollywood icon was \u201cone of the greatest actors we ever had.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSuch a great man to talk to and laugh with,\u201d Sandler wrote. \u201cLoved him so much. We all did. So many movies to choose from that were legendary. Watch them when you can. Sending his wife Luciana and all his family and friends our condolences.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tViola Davis<\/a> wrote on Instagram Threads<\/a> that it was an \u201chonor\u201d to appear alongside Duvall in the 2018 thriller \u201cWidows.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was in awe,\u201d Davis added, \u201cI\u2019ve always been in awe of your towering portrayals of men who were both quiet and dominating in their humanness. You were a giant\u2026 an icon\u2026 \u2018Apocalypse Now,\u2019 \u2018The Godfather,\u2019 \u2018To Kill a Mockingbird,\u2019 \u2018Tender Mercies,\u2019 \u2018The Apostle,\u2019 \u2018Lonesome Dove\u2019\u2026 etc\u2026 Greatness never dies. It stays\u2026 as a gift. Rest well, sir. Your name will be spoken\u2026 May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMichael Keaton, who starred with Duvall in Ron Howard\u2019s 1994 workplace comedy \u201cThe Paper,\u201d shared a portrait of the \u201cTender Mercies\u201d star on Instagram<\/a> with the caption, \u201cAnother friend goes down. Acted with and became friends. Shared a great afternoon on my front porch talking about horses. He was greatness personified as an actor. RIP RD.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFallout\u201d star Walton Goggins<\/a>, who appeared in a small role in 1997\u2019s \u201cThe Apostle,\u201d which Duvall directed and starred in, wrote on Instagram<\/a> in a lengthy tribute, \u201cThe celestial light just lost its glow..It certainly did for me. Bobby Duvall, the greatest storyteller of all time just left us.He was my friend. My mentor. I\u2019ve had these photos with me for 30 years. They were taken by the still photographer on the set of THE APOSTLE, the movie he wrote and directed. I was 24. The privilege of getting to work with this man, to know this man is still the most important experience of my life. He was my North Star, my hero.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNetflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos also remembered Duvall on Instagram<\/a>. Along with stills of his most famous work, he wrote, \u201cTo be a character actor who can steal every scene in some of the best movies ever made and still be a leading man who can carry films big and small is no small feat in Hollywood. Robert Duvall was that kind of an actor and that kind of a star. Today we lost one of the greats- thank goodness we will always have Tom Hagen, Lt. Col. Bill Kilgore, Bull Meechum, Mac Sledge and all of the great characters he immortalized for us.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tJosh Gad wrote in his Instagram Threads<\/a> tribute to Duvall, \u201cAnother day. Another iconic and irreplaceable loss. Duvall was simply one of the greatest to ever do it. From the \u2018Godfather\u2019 films to \u2018Apocalypse Now\u2019, from \u2018The Apostle\u2019 to \u2018To Kill a Mocking Bird,\u2019 he wasn\u2019t just in film, he defines it through the ages. RIP.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAuthor Stephen King shared one of Duvall\u2019s most iconic lines on X in tribute to the late actor. He wrote<\/a>, \u201c\u2018I love the smell of napalm in the morning!\u2019 RIP Robert Duvall.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tScott Cooper, who directed Duvall in \u201cCrazy Heart\u201d and his final film \u201cThe Pale Blue Heart,\u201d said in a statement to Variety that he considered \u201cThe Godfather\u201d star his \u201cmost important artistic mentor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe produced and acted in my first film, \u2018Crazy Heart,\u2019 and from that moment forward, read nearly every screenplay I wrote, offering his quiet wisdom and unwavering belief in me,\u201d Cooper said. \u201cHe was my fiercest supporter\u2014not with grand gestures, but with honesty, rigor, and love for the work itself. His legacy as one of the true giants of acting is secure, but what I will carry with me most is his generosity, his humility, and the example he set of a life devoted entirely to truth. I would not be the filmmaker\u2014or the man\u2014I am without him.\u201d<\/p>\n
