While the couple split in 2019, according to People<\/a>, they remain committed co-parents.<\/p>\n

Shayk, 39, praised Cooper\u2019s relationship with their daughter<\/a> in a November 2023 Elle<\/a> interview. \u201cHe\u2019s the best father Lea and I could dream of. It always works, but it always works because we make it work,\u201d the Sports Illustrated model told the outlet of their dynamic.<\/p>\n

Cooper<\/a> also opened up about how fatherhood changed his life in a 2019 interview<\/a> with Oprah Winfrey for Oprah\u2019s SuperSoul Conversations from Times Square. \u201cIt\u2019s changed everything,\u201d he said. \u201cI mean, our daughter is\u2014she\u2019s incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooper and Shayk dated from 2015 to 2019, but kept their relationship out of the spotlight. Shayk explained the decision to Glamour UK<\/a> for a February 2019 cover story.\u00a0\u201cBecause my work requires me to be out there, I just decided my personal life will be quiet,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s why it\u2019s called personal, because it\u2019s something for you and your family, and I feel happy with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the former couple have made a few public appearances with their 8-year-old, as well as sharing sweet and relatable parenting stories in interviews. Here\u2019s everything Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk have shared about their daughter Lea.<\/p>\n

During his Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations from Times Square appearance<\/a> in 2019, Cooper revealed that his daughter reminds him of his late father, Charles Cooper, who died from lung cancer in January 2011, per People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI see my father in [Lea] quite often,\u201d the Nightmare Alley star told Winfrey. \u201cAnd I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m going to admit this, but I had moments, when she was a child, and I was just in the room with her. I would say, \u2018Dad?\u2019<\/p>\n

Though they may work in the spotlight, Cooper and Shayk strive to keep their daughter grounded.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re teaching our daughter that the most important thing is to be kind to people. Every time we send her to school, we\u2019re like, \u2018Just remember kindness and love.\u2019 So I think that\u2019s what true beauty is,\u201d Shayk wrote in a 2023 essay for Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She added that Lea helped her learn to love herself. \u201cShe\u2019ll say, \u2018I love Daddy so much, I love Mama so much, I love Nana, I love Babulya\u2014\u2019 who is my mom. Then she goes, \u2018And I really love myself.\u2019 And I\u2019m looking at my daughter and I\u2019m like, \u2018Wow, I wasn\u2019t like that at six years old.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

In another interview, Shayk discussed how she and Cooper have taught their daughter manners. \u201cHe\u2019s a full-on, hands-on dad\u2014no nanny,\u201d she told Highsnobiety<\/a> of her ex, adding later in the conversation, \u201cMe and [Lea\u2019s] father are very strict. When she finishes eating, she gets up from the table, takes her plate, says \u2018thank you.\u2019 Without \u2018please\u2019 or \u2018thank you\u2019 she\u2019s not getting anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2021, Shayk opened up to British Vogue<\/a> about losing her father when she was just 14 years old.\u00a0\u201cHe was the healthiest man alive, and at 44, out of the blue, he was coughing for a while then got pneumonia and died. Me, my mom and my sister were left. Three women.\u201d<\/p>\n

Inspired by her mother\u2019s example, the model mom wants to show her daughter that women can be providers and parents at the same time.<\/p>\n

“I always try not to stay away from my daughter for more than a week, but I also don’t want to be this woman who’s not truthful to herself, because I love my work and I was raised in a woman-run household. I want my daughter to know that momma has a job in her life because I want to raise a strong, powerful woman. Presents and food do not come out of the blue,\u201d she told British Vogue.<\/p>\n

They take Lea everywhere.<\/p>\n

Before she started school, Lea would go \u201ceverywhere\u201d with Shayk and Cooper, the model told Elle<\/a> in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s super easy,\u201d the mom said of a then-5-year-old Lea. \u201cTwo days ago, I had to go to the gym, so I just got her a drawing book and said, \u2018Mama\u2019s working out.\u2019 She was drawing for an hour. Then we went to the Michael Kors fitting,\u201d Shayk continued. \u201cShe met all the girls. Michael gave her a bag. She drew him a kitty cat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even when their schedules get busy, the former couple make things work. When Lea graduated from Kindergarten, Cooper told Deadline<\/a> he was in the middle of filming Maestro, the biopic he directed and starred in as composer Leonard \u2018Lenny\u2019 Bernstein. Not wanting to miss his daughter\u2019s milestone moment, the actor hurried to her school straight from the set.<\/p>\n

\u201c[W]e were still shooting,\u201d Cooper explained. \u201cSo, I attended her graduation in full make-up as Lenny. So much so that some of the mothers must have thought, \u2018Who is that guy?\u2019 Seriously. I was Lenny. Full Lenny. It was crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cooper and his mini-me had an adorable matching moment<\/a> at Super Bowl LIX in 2025. The Philadelphia native and die-hard Eagles fan donned the team\u2019s signature kelly green for the big game, as did his daughter. While the 50-year-old chose to rock a sleek varsity jacket, Lea wore an Eagles sweatshirt with a checkered pleated skirt and trendy Moon Boots.<\/p>\n

After the Eagles won the game, Cooper told Fox Sports<\/a> the experience was a full-circle moment for him as a fan and a parent. “I’m just one of thousands and thousands that get the opportunity to love this team and live for this team, be a part of Philadelphia,” he said. “I used to come with my dad and now I get to bring my daughter, it’s just a beautiful thing in life. It’s a miracle.”<\/p>\n

A 6-year-old Lea made her red carpet debut in December 2023, stepping out with her dad at the premiere<\/a> of his movie Maestro. Cooper\u2019s daughter held his hand on the carpet, smiling and posing in an animal-print dress.<\/p>\n

She had a cameo in the Oscar-nominated film as the younger version of Maya Hawke\u2019s character, Jamie Bernstein. When the film had its wide release, Shayk shared a sweet Instagram Stories post celebrating her and Cooper\u2019s daughter making her film debut. \u201cCongrats @maestrofilm So proud Daddy and Lea \ud83d\udc95\u201d the model wrote in her story, per People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Lea hit the red carpet again in May 2024 for the premiere of IF, a children\u2019s movie about imaginary friends. At the event, she excitedly pointed at her dad\u2019s character, Ice, on a poster outside the theater, making Cooper smile. People captured the sweet moment<\/a> on video.<\/p>\n

Lea also sees her parents\u2019 A-list pals off the red carpet when she has playdates with their kids. During the 2020 pandemic, she befriended Anne Hathaway\u2019s two sons<\/a>, and the two families formed a pod, Cooper shared in Hathaway\u2019s August 2025 Vogue<\/a> cover story.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started hanging out as parents, having dance parties with children in my kitchen, and I fell in love with both of them,\u201d the A Star is Born actor said of Hathaway<\/a> and her husband, Adam Shulman.<\/p>\n

In May 2025, a source told People<\/a> that Lea had also met Gigi Hadid\u2019s daughter, Khai Malik, whom she shares with ex Zayn Malik. Cooper and Hadid<\/a> have been romantically linked since October 2023<\/a>. The source said the couple \u201chave a lot in common and Bradley\u2019s daughter, Lea, is so sweet and gentle with Khai.\u201d<\/p>\n
