Over the summer, he walked out as one of college basketball\u2019s most electrifying prospects. Between earning praise from elite NBA trainers and dominating international competition, Brown is projected to be one of the top five picks in next year\u2019s NBA Draft.<\/p>\n<p>    What Makes Mikel Brown Jr. an Elite Offensive Playmaker?<\/p>\n<p>NBA trainer Chris Joseph Brickley\u00a0didn\u2019t mince words when evaluating Brown\u2019s summer performance. In a recently uploaded Instagram video, Brickley described Brown as: \u201c@mikel_brownjr is an ELITE offensive playmaker with a high-level handle, bounce and a high IQ! Mikel might be one of the best players in college basketball this upcoming season! Who does he remind you of?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The praise didn\u2019t stop there. Brickley added in his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DMqkI2ep94E\/?igsh=dmEyNXh4cWV4cTJv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noreferrer\">own comment<\/a>: \u201cHe keeps getting better every time I see him play! Everybody\u2019s been playing really well out here\u2026 Everybody\u2019s playing together, playing unselfish. It\u2019s been a great week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked about the most challenging opponent, Brown singled out teammate Caleb Hope: \u201cCaleb Hope\u2019s everywhere on the glass. Hits open shots\u2026 It\u2019s hard to box him out, for sure, just because he\u2019s always flying around.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brown credited his early Louisville experience for preparing him for the physicality of high-level competition: \u201cI think those two weeks at Louisville before I came here helped a lot in terms of just getting used to the physicality and a lot of concepts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That preparation paid dividends on the international stage. At the 2025 U19 Basketball World Cup, Brown averaged 14.9 points, 6.1 assists, and 21. rebounds per game, while shooting an impressive 47.6% from three-point range.
