Following the news that MLBPA Exec Dir Tony Clark will resign from his role<\/a>, Deputy Exec Dir Bruce Meyer is \u201cexpected to take the lead\u201d for the union as it prepares to enter collective bargaining talks with MLB. Meyer\u2019s background is \u201cas a litigator not a negotiator,\u201d and he is \u201cconsidered hard core in his view and approach.\u201d The MLBPA bargaining committee \u201chas been working for two years\u201d on the issues \u201cindependent of Tony Clark.\u201d So while the current CBA expires on Dec. 1, 2026, bargaining is \u201cnot expected to be delayed.\u201d The union\u2019s positions \u201cwill be the same\u201d (X, 2\/17<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Tigers P Tarik Skubal, one of eight players on the MLBPA\u2019s executive subcommittee, said they \u201chave a call this afternoon\u201d and will \u201cget more information\u201d on Clark\u2019s resignation. Skubal said, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t really change the state of the union.
