{"id":474726,"date":"2026-02-17T23:24:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T23:24:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/474726\/"},"modified":"2026-02-17T23:24:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-17T23:24:10","slug":"ryder-cup-captaincy-tiger-woods-has-been-asked-by-pga-but-no-decision-yet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/474726\/","title":{"rendered":"Ryder Cup captaincy: Tiger Woods has been asked by PGA, but no decision yet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In December, ahead of the Hero World Challenge, Tiger Woods revealed that \u201c<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfchannel.com\/pga-tour\/news\/tiger-woods-reveals-surprising-news-regarding-2027-u-s-ryder-cup-captaincy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">no one\u2019s asked me<\/a>\u201d about captaining the 2027 U.S. Ryder Cup team in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s changed.<\/p>\n<p>Woods said Tuesday at Riviera, site of this week\u2019s Genesis Invitational, that the PGA of America has since reached out to him about the captaincy, though that\u2019s the extend of it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey have asked me for my input on it, and I haven\u2019t made my decision yet,\u201d Woods said.<\/p>\n<p>Woods declined the 2025 captaincy because of schedule constraints related to his involvement with the PGA Tour\u2019s policy board. With Woods still on the board as a player director and also a member of the Future Competition Committee, he cited similar concerns on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"Link\" aria-label=\"Tiger Woods doesn\u2019t rule out possible return at Masters Tournament\" href=\"https:\/\/www.golfchannel.com\/pga-tour\/news\/tiger-woods-doesnt-rule-out-possible-return-at-masters\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>    <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"Image\" alt=\"The Masters - Final Round\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1771370650_523_.jpeg\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tiger Woods gave a health update Tuesday at the Genesis Invitational. When asked if the Masters was off the table, he had a succinct answer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m trying to figure out what we\u2019re trying to do with our tour,\u201d Woods said. \u201cThat\u2019s been driving me hours upon hours every day and trying to figure out if I can actually do our team, our Team USA and our players and everyone that\u2019s going to be involved in the Ryder Cup, if I can do it justice with my time.
