Lonzo Ball is having one of the worst shooting seasons in NBA history.<\/p>\n

The Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> salary dumped him, and then the Utah Jazz<\/a> waived him, and right now, no one wants him.<\/p>\n

Except apparently Ball doesn’t think it’s his fault.<\/p>\n

On his podcast, he said this week<\/a>:<\/p>\n

“I don’t feel like I’m playing as bad as people are saying… I’m the scapegoat right now.”<\/p>\n

Um, let’s check those numbers.<\/p>\n

A 30.1% field goal percentage is ghastly.<\/p>\n

So is a 27.2% from 3-point range.<\/p>\n

He’s not exactly making up for it with 66.7% on limited trips to the foul line.<\/p>\n

Ball did average 3.9 assists per game with the Cavs, so at least that was a little something.<\/p>\n

But even for a guy who has never been a great shooter in the NBA, these are the worst rates of his career.<\/p>\n

And shooting is one of those things that you can’t really blame on anyone else. The ball is in your hands. It’s your choice to let it fly. And it’s your shooting ability that determines what happens next.<\/p>\n

Besides, if Ball was the scapegoat, what would it be for? The Cavs were having a solid season despite him. Craig Porter Jr. emerged as a backup point guard to bail Cleveland out from having to play Ball.<\/p>\n

Lonzo is just trying to deflect the blame, it appears.<\/p>\n

One problem, albeit predictable: He missed the mark again.<\/p>\n
