The Inflation Reduction Act\u00a0itself offered\u00a0socio-economic\u00a0benefits, including\u00a0job prospects in\u00a0states dominated\u00a0by Republican voters. These examples\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0the extent to which the decision making in the White House\u00a0is\u00a0driven by\u00a0ideology, rather than strategic thinking,\u00a0socio-economic\u00a0calculus\u00a0or\u00a0even basic\u00a0political considerations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:justify\">What do\u00a0the\u00a0latest\u00a0developments\u00a0across the pond\u00a0mean for the EU?\u00a0It confirms once again that\u00a0any transatlantic or EU-US global\u00a0initiatives\u00a0labelled as \u2018climate\u2019 are\u00a0off the table\u00a0as long as\u00a0Trump is in the office.\u00a0The EU could still explore ways to collaborate\u00a0on topics\u00a0such as\u00a0disaster\u00a0management\u00a0and\u00a0circular economy,\u00a0although\u00a0the\u00a0window of opportunity\u00a0appears to be\u00a0shrinking by the day.\u00a0Moreover, the EU must assess the effects of the US measures on\u00a0EU\u2019s leadership on climate, and\u00a0on\u00a0its economy, including the automotive sector.
