I&#8217;m happy with who I am right now,&#8217; she explained. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"9\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">&#8216;I was feeling a little bit down and I felt like I should bring a little change by doing this challenge. It would boost my mood because you get a moment to relax your mind and be in the present moment.&#8217; Doing it with her friend Stephanie to keep her accountable, she decided to put the skipping rope she&#8217;d &#8216;basically never used&#8217; to work. However, she soon found out that it provided many physical benefits, too. Here&#8217;s exactly what happened, everything she learned from the challenge, and how skipping could benefit you.<\/p>\n<p>1. Skipping is an effective workout<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"16\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Doing 1,000 skips in a go provided an efficient aerobic and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a61438515\/muscular-endurance\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/a61438515\/muscular-endurance\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"muscular endurance\" data-node-id=\"16.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">muscular endurance<\/a> workout. &#8216;Whenever you do 1,000, your heart rate goes up, you feel it in your body everywhere, especially in your arm muscles,&#8217; she reflected. Many studies support her experience, with <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/39994454\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/39994454\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"one\" data-node-id=\"16.3\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">one<\/a> reporting that both high\u2011intensity interval and sustained moderate rope skipping significantly improved cardiorespiratory (aerobic) fitness<\/p>\n<p>2. Small daily movement adds purpose<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"23\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Emilie found even short, efficient workouts made her feel accomplished. &#8216;I highly recommend the challenge if you want to change your life a little bit, because it&#8217;s an energy mood booster, it makes you ground yourself again in your day and it gives you some purpose. Pacing and kit matter<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"29\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Wearing good shoes was important, as Emilie soon found out. &#8216;I&#8217;d advise you to jump on a [supportive] surface with good shoes because it can hurt your body,&#8217; she suggested. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"33\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Splitting up the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a45500117\/how-many-sets-per-workout\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a45500117\/how-many-sets-per-workout\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"reps\" data-node-id=\"33.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">reps<\/a> in the beginning is also advisable to protect your joints if you&#8217;re not used to doing so many skips in one go. &#8216;Don&#8217;t do a thousand at once. You can maybe at the end of the 30 days, but at first if you&#8217;re not used to it, it could&#8230;hurt your joints,&#8217; she advised. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"37\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Pain from too many reps was something she experienced first hand. &#8216;I&#8217;ve decided to split the thousand jumps in two because I&#8217;ve been hurting my knees lately, so I&#8217;ve decided to do 500 jumps now, go for a short walk, and then 500 more. Then I hope that my body won&#8217;t be as badly impacted,&#8217; she said. <\/p>\n<p>4. It will work your whole body<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"42\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">For Emilie, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a37509260\/delayed-onset-muscle-soreness\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a37509260\/delayed-onset-muscle-soreness\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"DOMS\" data-node-id=\"42.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">DOMS<\/a> set in early on. &#8216;It is day two of the challenge of skipping rope and I&#8217;m already sore. It&#8217;s a surprise because I [was only] expecting to be sore on&#8230;maybe day four. I really feel that it&#8217;s a workout \u2013 you feel your entire body,&#8217; she pointed out. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"46\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Tripping over the rope, however, could cause issues. &#8216;You will get stuck behind it, it will smash onto your body, you will get red marks \u2013 this happens every time,&#8217; she said. &#8216;My tip: wear longer sleeves and longer trousers.&#8217;  <\/p>\n<p>5. You&#8217;ll build strength and speed<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"51\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Emilie also experienced some unexpected physical changes. &#8216;I gained weight, which is not what we were expecting \u2013 though I wasn&#8217;t expecting to lose any weight, either \u2013 but I feel a lot better because there are more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a706692\/how-to-build-muscle\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/fitness\/strength-training\/a706692\/how-to-build-muscle\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"muscles\" data-node-id=\"51.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">muscles<\/a> everywhere in my body \u2013 in my arms, my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/core-workouts\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.womenshealthmag.com\/uk\/core-workouts\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"core\" data-node-id=\"51.3\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">core<\/a>, [and especially] my calves. I&#8217;m curious to see how I&#8217;ll feel in two weeks because I do feel good about myself,&#8217; she reflected. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"55\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Emilie also found that it improved her coordination: &#8216;It improves your agility and quickness.&#8217; Research agrees, with <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/36121177\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/36121177\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"research\" data-node-id=\"55.1\" class=\"body-link css-1e57p3n emevuu60\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">research<\/a> showing it enhanced footwork, timing and multi-limb coordination in athletes. <\/p>\n<p><img draggable=\"true\" alt=\"1000 skips 30 days skipping challenge\" title=\"1000 skips 30 days skipping challenge\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1796\" height=\"990\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent;width:100%;height:auto;\"   src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/screenshot-2026-02-16-at-15-45-58-69933bc3e2a8f.png\" class=\"css-0 e1g79fud0\"\/><\/p>\n<p>AllEmilie\/\/YouTube<\/p>\n<p>6. You can adapt it to your schedule and energy levels<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"61\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Emilie did do 1000 reps a day \u2013 on average. On some days, she had to make up for incomplete reps from the day before. &#8216;Yesterday, I didn&#8217;t finish the challenge \u2013 I only did 440 jumps in the end, so today I will do 1,560 jumps, including 560 now,&#8217; she said about halfway into the month. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"65\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">In week four, she also missed a few days. &#8216;I didn&#8217;t jump on Sunday, nor did I jump yesterday, so I&#8217;ll have to do 2,000 more either today or tomorrow. I think I might split them up.&#8217; While cramming 2,000 skips into one day on another occasion, she managed it by doing 1,200 in one go and then waited to finish the remaining 800.  <\/p>\n<p>7. It sharpens mental focus<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"70\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Counting to 1,000 daily required concentration. &#8216;It is a good brain workout \u2013 my friend Stephanie [who also did it] counted in [sets of] 50 but I counted in 100s. Have you ever counted until 1,000?
