The NHL resumes next week and with the Olympic roster freeze ending on Tuesday, expect to see a flurry of moves into late next week. Several insiders have stated they’re expecting the action to be as busy as the four days after the 4 Nations Faceoff last February, and don’t be surprised to see the St. Louis Blues and New York Islanders talking a blockbuster deal.<\/p>\n

Mike Rupp: Re Jordan Kyrou\/Islanders: That would be the one team that I think can make it happen [in-season], and they’ve got Cole Eiserman, someone that they would be I think willing to move and be part of a package – DFO Rundown (2\/13)<\/p>\n

The Blues have included Kyrou in trade talks this season and last, and it appears they’ll be asking him for a list of teams he’d approve, and if the Islanders are included, there’s potential of a blockbuster coming that would include Islanders top prospect Cole Eiserman.<\/p>\n

Kyrou, 27, is signed through the 2031 season at $8.1 million AAV, and owns a full no-trade clause. In 47 games this season, the speedy winger has scored 13 goals, and recorded 32 games, averaging 16:12 of ice-time. The Blues have been hoping Kyrou would evolve more into a two-way threat, and win himself some penalty killing time, but that hasn’t been the case at all this season, and he’s been up and down their lineup.<\/p>\n

Eiserman, 19, was the 20th overall pick at the 2024 NHL draft, and has had a strong season in the NCAA, posting 13 goals in 27 games with Boston University. He’s likely coming out of college after this season, and could even audition with the Blues after the college campaign is over this spring.<\/p>\n

With the Islanders having just $6 million in cap space to work with, don’t be surprised to see a roster player heading back to the Blues, along with their 2026 first-round pick. New York has first rounders, their own, and the Colorado Avalanche’s. They’ve been aggressive already on the trade market, there’s a good chance they take a solid run at acquiring Kyrou before the deadline.<\/p>\n
