{"id":476221,"date":"2026-02-18T17:35:09","date_gmt":"2026-02-18T17:35:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/476221\/"},"modified":"2026-02-18T17:35:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T17:35:09","slug":"kyrie-irving-out-for-the-season-mavericks-announce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/476221\/","title":{"rendered":"Kyrie Irving out for the season, Mavericks announce"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DALLAS \u2014 Dallas Mavericks star Kyrie Irving will miss the rest of the NBA season as he recovers from ACL reconstruction surgery.<\/p>\n<p>The team announced the news on Wednesday morning, saying that Irving will remain \u201cactively engaged with the team through the remainder of the season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Irving tore the ACL in his left knee during a game in March 2025 and had surgery to <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/tx\/south-texas-el-paso\/news\/2025\/03\/27\/kyrie-irving-mavericks-torn-acl-surgery\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">repair the torn ligament<\/a> that same month. He hasn\u2019t played this season. The team says Irving has made \u201csteady progress\u201d in his rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis decision wasn\u2019t easy, but it\u2019s the right one,\u201d Irving said in a statement. \u201cI am grateful for the Mavericks organization, my teammates and our fans for their continued support throughout the process. I am looking forward to coming back stronger next season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This news comes after the <a href=\"https:\/\/spectrumlocalnews.com\/tx\/austin\/news\/2026\/02\/04\/report--mavericks-trade-anthony-davis-to-washington-wizards\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mavericks traded the oft-injured All-Star Anthony Davis<\/a> to the Washington Wizards along with Jaden Hardy, D\u2019Angelo Russell and Dante Exum in an eight-player trade.<\/p>\n<p>The Mavericks are currently 19-35 this season and are on a nine-game losing streak.
