The status of James Gunn\u2019s DCU Batman is once again in question, and this time it\u2019s said to be not happening for years (if ever).<\/p>\n

Update: Daniel RPK is stating he didn\u2019t say \u201cJames Gunn won\u2019t introduce DCU\u2019s Batman until Matt Reeve\u2019s finished his trilogy\u201d but hasn\u2019t expanded upon what he did say, if anything.<\/p>\n

According to scooper DanielRPK, The Brave and the Bold isn\u2019t coming anytime soon. <\/p>\n

He claims Gunn is pushing to fast-track Matt Reeves\u2019 The Batman 3 instead, as he \u201cdoesn\u2019t want two Batmans\u201d running at the same time and wants Matt Reeves\u2019 trilogy wrapped so DC Studios can move forward.<\/p>\n

That lines up with ongoing confusion about how the DCU Batman will coexist alongside Reeves\u2019 separate universe starring Robert Pattinson.<\/p>\n

It also lines up with the claims Gunn wanted Pattinson as the DCU Batman, as he would then be able to develop his Batman side by side Reeves. Well, that\u2019s not happening.<\/p>\n

The Brave and the Bold Reportedly Delayed for Years<\/p>\n

The Brave and the Bold was originally announced as part of Gunn\u2019s DCU Chapter One slate. The film is expected to introduce the DCU\u2019s Batman and his son Damian Wayne as Robin.<\/p>\n

However, if DanielRPK\u2019s information is accurate, fans shouldn\u2019t expect it anytime soon.<\/p>\n

Instead, it\u2019s claimed the focus appears to be on finishing Reeves\u2019 saga, which began with The Batman.<\/p>\n

Gunn reportedly wants that trilogy completed before launching a separate DCU Batman, avoiding audience confusion and franchise overlap, which again, would take years.<\/p>\n

Gunn\u2019s Future at DC Studios Tied to WBD Sale<\/p>\n

However, beyond scheduling issues, there are bigger things in play.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been told that with the sale of Warner Bros. Discovery, James Gunn will be out as head of DC Studios<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That explains why Gunn is currently developing the Superman Family Saga projects.<\/p>\n

Upcoming projects in development only include Man of Tomorrow and the Jimmy Olsen TV series (who asked for that?).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, everything else appears to be in limbo \u2013 including Wonder Woman<\/a> \u2013 dependent on who ultimately takes control of WBD.<\/p>\n

Lanterns is still moving forward, but it\u2019s our understanding it\u2019s essentially an HBO series. It\u2019s only eight episodes.<\/p>\n

With The Brave and the Bold meant to feature Damian Wayne, tone will be everything. A misstep with Batman would have major consequences for the entire DCU.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve also been told that if new ownership comes in, they will likely want their own direction for DC. The Netflix CEO just confirmed Gunn\u2019s Superman underperformed<\/a>, which shows they are well aware of what is going on with Gunn and DC.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve also been told the SnyderVerse could return depending on who wins the bidding war. If Paramount were to land WBD, that would reportedly mean Gunn is out, as Paramount leadership is viewed as politically aligned differently from Gunn\u2019s perceived creative circle.<\/p>\n

Right now, the DCU Batman remains a question mark.<\/p>\n
