On four-goal hero Anthony Gordon, who now holds the record for most goals scored by a Newcastle player in a single Champions League campaign: “He was really good in that first half. He started the press, a number of his goals came from his attitude off the ball. <\/p>\n
“He could have had more, but a very good display.”<\/p>\n
On not getting complacent at 4-0 up: “We wanted to keep the momentum in the second half. The game changed and they played lower on the pitch which made it more difficult for us. <\/p>\n
“Overall it’s a great day for us. We know the tie isn’t dead or over but we are in a great position.”<\/p>\n

Anthony Gordon has broken a Newcastle record for goals scored (10) in a single Champions League campaign. The previous record was held by Alan Shearer with six.<\/p>\n
Gordon is the third player to score a hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League for Newcastle United, along with Shearer and Tino Asprilla.<\/p>\n
Gordon becomes the second player to score four goals in the first half of a UEFA Champions League game – and he is the first to do so in the knockout stage.<\/p>\n
Newcastle United had seven English players in their starting lineup – Gordon, Barnes, Pope, Trippier, Burn, Hall and Willock – which is the most from a Premier League side since Manchester United against Monaco in 1998.<\/p>\n
Newcastle become only the second side ever to lead a UEFA Champions League knockout stage game by 5+ goals at half-time.
