A house with three children is bound to be noisy and full of big feelings, and it seems Forest Lodge<\/a> is no different. Prince William<\/a> revealed that he \u201cgets all the details\u201d from his children, who sometimes share \u201ctoo much\u201d about their day and their feelings. On BBC Radio 1\u2019s Life Hacks, Prince William joined a panel to discuss mental health and wellbeing<\/a>, and his children\u2019s mental health came up in the conversation.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you notice that your children talk openly about their feelings, their day, or how they were feeling about a certain thing?\u201d host Greg James asked the Prince of Wales, to which Prince William replied, \u201cyeah, sometimes too much.\u201d The panel erupted in laughter, as Prince William<\/a> explained he gets \u201call the details\u201d on his children\u2019s feelings, \u201cwhich I love, you know, it’s amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Even Prince George, Princess Charlotte<\/a>, and Prince Louis bring home big feelings, often from school or social events, and Prince William is on-hand to help them work through those feelings. \u201cBeing able to understand it, have time with it, decipher it\u201d is part of the process, the prince said. His role as a parent is equally complex, as Prince William shared that he feels \u201ca sense you need to fix it, and that I find quite difficult.\u201d The Prince of Wales told the panel and radio listeners that \u201cyou don\u2019t need to fix everything, but you do need to listen.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the next generation, understanding emotions is okay,\u201d the Prince said, before exploring how previous generations approached mental health and how important it is to \u201cbreak the cycle.\u201d The Prince of Wales hopes that the next generation, including Prince George<\/a>, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, can learn to speak openly about their emotions and to take time to understand those complex feelings.
