They couple it with the fact that small-market teams choose to hold onto that money.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-darkGrey my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"5t\">The biggest offender of the unwritten rule by the fans is the Dodgers, whose payroll sits at $394 million according to FanGraphs. A salary cap\/salary floor will be discussed in the lockout, and it will likely delay the 2027 season.<\/p>\n<p>Manny Machado\u2019s Dodgers take lands like a cold splash of reality for MLB<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-4\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-darkGrey my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"5z\">To many\u2019s surprise, some players are supportive of the Dodgers\u2019 approach to free agency, saying it&#8217;s good for the game. An even bigger surprise, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/mlb\/story\/_\/id\/47940063\/padres-manny-machado-says-dodgers-spending-great-game\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">one of the biggest advocates plays an NL West division rival.<\/a><\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-5\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-darkGrey my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"62\"><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FoulTerritoryTV\/status\/2023105550960185441\" rel=\"nofollow\">Padres\u2019 third baseman Manny Machado<\/a> was vocal on the Dodgers\u2019 spending.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-darkGrey my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"65\">&#8220;Every team should be doing it. S\u2014 is f\u2014ing great for the game. After all, they have Manny Machado, Fernando Tatis Jr., Xander Bogaerts, and Jackson Merrill all on contracts that exceed $100 million in total value.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-9\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-darkGrey my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6e\">What\u2019s even more surprising is that it&#8217;s coming from Machado, who probably has the most beef with L.A. than anyone else who&#8217;s currently rostered.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-darkGrey my-f-1\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6h\">All we know now is that the 2026 chapter of the I-5\/SoCal rivalry will be one for the ages.
