At first glance, Black-Footed Cats look impossibly small and sweet. They have adorable round faces and wide eyes that feel instantly disarming, almost cartoon-like<\/a>, which instantly puts a smile on your face. They\u2019re very easy to underestimate, especially when they\u2019re resting quietly and doing absolutely nothing. Taking one of their many daily naps, Black-footed Cats look like any other house kitty.<\/p>\n

But the calm, chill look of the tiny Black-Footed Cat can really deceive you, and that\u2019s what makes this video of one at the Utah Hogle Zoo so fascinating. The cat absolutely does look cute, calm, and completely unassuming, but he\u2019s definitely not. Take a look at this!<\/p>\n

@blanco_relz shared a TikTok video on February 11, 2026, that she took of the Black-Footed Cat sisters, named Thelma and Louise, from Utah’s Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. We can only see one of the cats, but she’s so unassuming. She looks like a typical house cat, a generic Tabby cat<\/a> with some more spots than stripes. She doesn’t look any bigger than a house cat either. So why is she at the zoo?<\/p>\n

Well, she’s not a typical house cat\u2014she and her sister are known as the “world’s deadliest cat,” a title given to all Black-Footed Cats.<\/p>\n

In the comments, thousands of people shared messages about the title and the cat’s look<\/a> being so mixed up.<\/p>\n

One person wrote, “It\u2019s crazy how the ‘deadliest cat’ looks like a regular kitty, but wild cats look deadlier.”<\/p>\n

Another shared, “A zookeeper at Brookfield Zoo once told me that out of all their wild cats, the Black-Footed Cat could most likely be domesticated. They currently do not have a Black-Footed Cat, which sucks because they\u2019re so cute!”<\/p>\n

Other comments included, “OK, but sand cats, they are adorable,” “Uhm, my toxic trait is not believing this cat is mean,” “If not friend, why friend-shaped?” and “Sadly, if I saw this in the wild. I would try to catch it.”<\/p>\n

Why Is the Black-Footed Cat So ‘Deadly?’<\/p>\n

She’s so small and sweet looking, but she, her sister, and all other Black-Footed Cats are given the name “World’s Deadliest” because they’re incredibly skilled hunters, according to the experts.<\/p>\n

The Smithsonian Magazine says that despite this wildcat weighing “roughly 200 times less” than a lion, they have a “predation success rate of 60%.” Meaning the Black-Footed Cat<\/a> is really good at catching prey, but they also catch prey a lot\u2014”capturing more prey in a single night than a leopard does in six months,” the Smithsonian shares.<\/p>\n

It sounds like these cats really do have it all, including looks and skill, and we’re so lucky to be able to see glimpses of their beauty.<\/p>\n
