It was the season opener for ECSU as well, who fall to 0-1 to start their year. They will come back to New London next weekend to face the Connecticut College Camels on February 28th at noon.

Hannah Warnke(Lincoln, NE) got the Bear season started with a bang, scoring the first two goals of 2026 to open up a 2-0 lead early in the first quarter. After the senior scored the first two goals, she passed the torch to freshman Joely Schaumloffel(Remsenburg, NY). Schaumloffel took a perfect pass from senior Abby McAllister(Pleasantville, NY) to score her first collegiate goal (McAllister assisted on one of Warnke’s as well). Schaumloffel proceeded to rattle off four more goals in the half for an outrageous five goals in just six shots at half in her first career college game. McAllister added another assist and two goals to her line, heading into the half at the brink of history, just one point shy of breaking the all-time points record at CGA, set by Caitlyn Coates last season.

Leading 10-2 out of the half, McAllister did not waste much time etching her name atop the all-time points list with an assist to an Elizabeth Pearcy(Philadelphia, PA) goal for her 220th career point. McAllister cushioned her lead with an assist four minutes later to Hannah Warnke’s fourth goal. Fittingly after her record breaker, McAllister was the team leader in points with seven. Warnke would ultimately finish with five goals, tied with Schaumloffel for the team lead. Schaumloffel, after dominating the first half, assisted fellow freshman Taylor Thorne(Edgewater, MD) on her first career goal in the third quarter. Thorne would score twice more in the game to notch her first career hat trick, giving the duo of her and Schaumloffel a combined eight goals in their first career collegiate action.

The Coast Guard defense was dominant, allowing just two goals, none in the second half. That back line was anchored by Ella Campbell(Foxborough, MA), Tylr Neely(Hillsborough, NJ), and a trio of seniors: Lauren Henry(Monroe, CT), Gabriella Kraus-Rivera(West Linn, OR), and Rowan Walsh(Hampstead, MD). Neely led the way in caused turnovers with four, just ahead of Henry with three. Neely was also excellent on the draw, taking every draw for the Bears and coming down with five draw controls, trailing only Rileigh Leary who had seven DCs to go along with two ground balls, two assists, and one caused turnover. Sandwiched between McAllister and Leary in the team assist leaders was Isabella Judge(Buffalo, NY). The senior attacker known as “Buffalo Bella” had three assists to go along with a ground ball.

In goal for Bears in her first career start was sophomore Kailee Heron(West Islip, NY). Heron made five saves and notched one ground ball while playing all 60 minutes en route to her first career win.

The 1-0 Bears will be back out on their home turf on Wednesday February 25th with a 6 PM game vs Framingham State.

 Next Game: Framingham State 2/25/2026 | 6:00 PM ET Feb. 25 (Wed) / 6:00…

[18
23,3,21,19,22,20,25,24
0":"post-482959","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-united-states","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-news","10":"tag-united-states","11":"tag-united-states-of-america","12":"tag-unitedstates","13":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","14":"tag-us","15":"tag-usa
["GET
