Hilary Duff<\/a> was overcome with emotion on Friday as she sat down for an interview on CBS Mornings and talked openly about the feud she\u2019s having with her sister, Haylie Duff<\/a>. Hilary revealed on the show that her new song, \u201cWe Don\u2019t Talk,\u201d is about her relationship with her sister.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s definitely about my sister and just absolutely the most lonely part of my existence. It\u2019s not having my sister in my life at the moment, and I really struggled with thinking about including that on the record,\u201d Hilary said in the interview, per People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 38-year-old singer said she decided to put the song on her album, luck\u2026 or something, because it\u2019s her \u201ctruth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo many people are having this experience [of estrangement], and for me, making a record was just going to be all about connection. I was never going to take outside songs from people\u2026what would the point be, right, if it wasn\u2019t me and it wasn\u2019t my life?\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

The former child star, who rose to fame as the star of Disney Channel\u2019s Lizzie McGuire, also opened up about the challenge of being in the public spotlight for her entire life and the process of being more open with her fans.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t necessarily choose that part, but it\u2019s my reality, and so it was honestly like healing to say,\u201d\u00a0she said. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to watch your life unfold on the internet sometimes with talking heads on TikTok speculating this, that, and the other. Sometimes they\u2019re wrong and sometimes they\u2019re right.\u201d<\/p>\n

While she doesn\u2019t know if her sister will hear her latest song or how she\u2019ll feel about it, Hilary said she\u2019s just happy to express her feelings.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not trying to say anything bad,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s literally just my experience, and that\u2019s really all I feel like sharing.\u201d<\/p>\n

As she continued to talk about her family dynamics, Hilary revealed that another one of her songs, \u201cThe Optimist,\u201d is about her tumultuous relationship with her father Bob.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s really challenging for \u2026 one person to have major success in a family,\u201d Hilary said in the interview, per the Seattle Times<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s hard to get back to a place of health. It takes everybody involved to be able to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
