OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Omaha Police pulled over boxing champ Terence Crawford on suspicion of driving through a red light on Saturday as he headed to the state wrestling championships<\/a> at CHI Health Center.<\/p>\n

Officers ticketed him for violating a traffic control signal at 2:27pm on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Crawford is awaiting an April trial<\/a> on a careless driving ticket he received last fall in a highly publicized traffic stop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to the citation, Crawford, 38, was driving a 2026 Mercedes-Benz SUV.<\/p>\n

In the narrative section of the citation for the most recent stop, the responding officer wrote that he was \u201cparked on the NW corner, facing southbound\u201d at 14th and Capitol” when he saw a vehicle coming \u201csouthbound on 14th Street from I-480. Estimated over 50mph.\u201d The officer then wrote: \u201cLight turned solid red prior to vehicle reaching intersection and went through without braking. Then stopped at solid red at Dodge, but proceeded through the light after traffic cleared. Then went eastbound on Douglas, passed multiple other vehicles before going down to 8th Street where he was stopped…\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the citation, Crawford asked which red light he ran.<\/p>\n

The officer said he ran two lights.<\/p>\n

Crawford said he was going to watch his son wrestle.<\/p>\n

According to the NSAA, the parade of champions began at 3pm Saturday in downtown Omaha \u2014 followed by the championship matches. Crawford\u2019s son was first up.<\/p>\n

Last September, Crawford was pulled over for allegedly driving carelessly. He was stopped near 12th and Capitol the morning after a parade was held in his honor.<\/p>\n

Crawford\u2019s bodyguard<\/a> says they announced they had legal guns in the car during the traffic stop, but Omaha police said<\/a> one of the officers didn\u2019t hear them and when they saw a gun on the floor, ordered everyone out at gunpoint.<\/p>\n

The three passengers in the car filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Omaha<\/a> in December \u2014 claiming unconstitutional use of force and alleging discrimination. Crawford did not join the suit.<\/p>\n
