The New Albany Police Department originally said Rondale Moore was pronounced dead at the time authorities arrived.<\/p>\n
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) \u2014 Former Louisville-area football star and NFL wide receiver Rondale Moore died Saturday in southern Indiana.<\/p>\n
According to the Floyd County Coroner’s Office, emergency services responded to the 1600 block of Ekin Avenue in New Albany, Indiana, at 5:27 p.m.<\/p>\n
Moore, 25, was found in a garage at that address and then taken to Baptist Health Floyd, where he was pronounced dead just after 6 p.m.<\/p>\n
Police said it is suspected he died by suicide.<\/p>\n
New Albany Police and the Floyd County Coroner’s Office are currently conducting a death investigation.<\/p>\n
Moore played at New Albany High School for two years before transferring across the river to Trinity High School for the reminder of his prep career. He then starred at Purdue University for current University of Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm. Moore won the Paul Hornung Award as the nation’s most versatile player.<\/p>\n
Brohm released a statement on his X account Saturday, and Moore was loved and offering his condolences to Moore’s family.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“Rondale Moore was a complete joy to coach,” Brohm said in in the post. “Rondale had a work ethic unmatched by anyone.”<\/p>\n
