{"id":485565,"date":"2026-02-23T11:04:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-23T11:04:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/485565\/"},"modified":"2026-02-23T11:04:10","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T11:04:10","slug":"robert-aramayo-makes-history-at-bafta-film-awards-with-best-actor-win","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/485565\/","title":{"rendered":"Robert Aramayo Makes History At BAFTA Film Awards With Best Actor Win"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/robert-aramayo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_robert-aramayo\" data-tag=\"robert-aramayo\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Robert Aramayo<\/a> proved to be the surprise package of the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bafta\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bafta\" data-tag=\"bafta\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">BAFTA<\/a> Film Awards, stealing the thunder of Leonardo DiCaprio and Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet to win Best Leading Actor. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe English actor, who stars in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, won the prize for his portrayal of Tourette syndrome campaigner John Davidson in the British film, <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/i-swear\/\" id=\"auto-tag_i-swear\" data-tag=\"i-swear\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">I Swear<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAramayo also took home the Rising Star Award, becoming the first performer in BAFTA history to win the emerging talent prize and Leading Actor award in one night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAramayo\u2019s Leading Actor win sparked scenes of jubilation at London\u2019s Royal Festival Hall and, during his winner\u2019s speech, the performer said he could not believe that he had triumphed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI honestly cannot believe that I have won this award. I really, really cannot. Everyone in this category blows me away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHe also thanked fellow nominee Ethan Hawke for helping inspire his journey into acting. \u201cWhen I was in school, Ethan Hawke came in to speak to us at Juilliard and he gave an amazing talk on longevity as an actor, about protecting your instrument and avoiding self-destructive behaviors,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd it had a really great impact on everyone in that room. So to be in this category with you tonight is incredible.
