Many of the characters in the popular HBO series \u201cThe Sopranos\u201d would most likely be supporters of Donald Trump if the show aired today, actor Michael Imperioli said. <\/p>\n

While envisioning what the series would be like in America\u2019s current climate, Imperoli told The Independent<\/a> that although the show\u2019s fictional characters were \u201cimmigrants,\u201d he believes a number of them would probably support Trump. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe show is about the American dream, especially through the eyes of immigrants,\u201d Imperioli told the outlet. \u201cI think that would be one of the big themes if it was made today: the current climate in the U.S. and what they\u2019re doing to immigrants. The fact is that these characters are all immigrants, but I think a lot of them would probably be Trump supporters, oddly enough. So how do they reconcile those things? When Italians came over \u2013 and people forget this, or they don\u2019t want to see it \u2013 a lot of them were undocumented.\u201d<\/p>\n

Imperoli played Christopher Moltisanti on the show from 1999 to 2007.<\/p>\n

In 2019, \u201cThe Sopranos\u201d creator David Chase told The New York Times<\/a> that he thought James Gandolfini\u2019s Tony Soprano wouldn\u2019t be impressed by Trump. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe would think the guy was full of [expletive],\u201d Chase said. \u201cWhether he thought he was a good president or not \u2014 I don\u2019t know that Tony thought much about that question at all, with anybody who was in office. But I know Tony would have thought Trump was penny-ante, in terms of his lying and presentation.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the same conversation with The Times, Chase predicted that Robert Iler\u2019s A.J. Soprano would seamlessly integrate into the Trump administration\u2019s regime. <\/p>\n

\u201cHe might be the new chief of staff,\u201d Chase said. \u201cHe\u2019d be buddy-buddy with [White House Deputy Chief of Staff] Stephen Miller, I know that.\u201d <\/p>\n

In 2020, Imperioli criticized Trump while showing support for former President Joe Biden<\/a>, whom Trump ran against in the 2020 presidential race. In an Instagram post, Imperioli joked that Trump had misbehaved at the show\u2019s fictional strip club Bada Bing. <\/p>\n

\u201cTrump stopped by the Bing one night,\u201d Imperioli wrote, per Vanity Fair<\/a>. \u201cWe gave him VIP treatment, everything on the house and he didn\u2019t tip anyone! Zero! Stiffed the whole staff\u2026even Peppino the bathroom attendant. Unforgivable.
