We haven\u2019t seen anything from Dune: Part Three <\/a>yet, but Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a> wants everyone to know he\u2019s giving it his all for the messianic threequel<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At a recent Variety<\/a> town hall in Austin, TX, he talked about not wanting to make his third turn as Paul Atreides count, since this would be \u201cmy last time doing a Dune\u00a0film. I wanted to really treat it as sacred. People can get complacent, but I was more intense on the third one.\u201d A big reason for that was how Oscar Isaac approached the material back when he played Paul\u2019s father Leto in\u00a0Dune: Part One. There, Isaac treated the film as \u201cvery Shakespearean,\u201d and that\u2019s inspired Chalamet to \u201ctake more liberty than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was coming off of\u00a0Beautiful Boy\u00a0and\u00a0Call Me by Your Name,\u00a0movies that were a lot more naturalistic,\u201d recalled Chalament. \u201cSo I felt kind of thrown by [Dune\u2019s] futurism. But especially on this third one, all the great shit you see on screen is from freedom of movement and freedom of choice.\u201d In terms of performance, he cited Heath Ledger in\u00a0Dark Knight\u00a0and Marlon Brando in\u00a0Apocalypse Now\u00a0as further inspiration for where he\u2019s taking Paul in this third chapter: those were two movies that let thier actors \u201csneak in something,\u201d and something he wants to replicate here.<\/p>\n

Dune: Part Three\u00a0is Chalamet\u2019s third time working with Denis Villeneuve, and he said the two have built a \u201creally good rhythm\u201d while filming these movies. As a result,\u00a0Part Three\u00a0is a \u201cbig swing\u201d and \u201cthe eeriest one\u201d in the series. What exactly does that mean? We\u2019ll find out when the film hits theaters on December 18.<\/p>\n
