Overlaying winter scene with DEMA Logo.\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tKent and Sussex County Level 3 Driving Ban Downgraded to Level 2 Driving Restriction, New Castle County Remains at Level 1 Driving Warning<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Snowstorm Recovery Efforts Continue Statewide<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>(SMYRNA, Del.) \u2013 Kent and Sussex County Level 3 Driving Ban downgraded to Level 2 Driving Restriction.<\/p>\n<p>Level 2 Driving Restriction\u00a0\u2013 No person may operate a motor vehicle on Delaware roadways when a Level 2 Driving Restriction has been activated, except for persons designated as essential personnel including operators of snow removal equipment employed, contracted by a public or private entity or designated persons already approved through the Delaware Emergency Management Agency\u2019s State of Emergency Driving Waiver Program.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>New Castle County remains at a Level 1 Driving Warning.<\/p>\n<p>Level 1 Driving Warning \u2013 Avoid traveling on roadways, unless there is a significant safety, health, or business reason to do so. All motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>DEMA and partners are continuing efforts to recover from the snow and wind event last evening.<\/p>\n<p>National Guard assets continue to assist Sussex and Kent counties<br \/>\nDelDOT continues snow removal operations statewide<\/p>\n<p>Non-primary roads may be impassible due to abandoned vehicles, snow drift, downed trees and utility infrastructure<\/p>\n<p>Delmarva Power and Delaware Electric Co-op are working to restore power to over 60,000 customers and have called in mutual aid from surrounding states<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Residents should:<\/p>\n<p>Stay informed about current weather, winter storm forecasts, travel advisories, and warnings<br \/>\nCheck on elderly neighbors and those with access and functional needs\/less abled individuals to ensure needs are being met<br \/>\nCreate alternative plans such as a shelter or staying with someone within your personal support network<br \/>\nKeep gasoline-powered devices outdoors, at least 20 feet away from windows doors, and vents to avoid potential Carbon Monoxide poisoning<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The shelters for Kent and Sussex Counties are located as follows:<\/p>\n<p>Kent County Shelter<\/p>\n<p>Dover High School \u2013 1 Dover High Drive, Dover, DE 19904<\/p>\n<p>Sussex County Shelter<\/p>\n<p>Sussex Central Middle School \u2013 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown, DE 19947<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dema.delaware.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Delaware Emergency Management Agency (DEMA)<\/a>\u00a0is the lead state agency for coordination of comprehensive emergency preparedness, training, response, recovery, and mitigation services to save lives, protect Delaware\u2019s economic base and reduce the impact of emergencies.
