The Reds received unfortunate news last week that an on-loan player will not feature again this season due to a long-term knee issue which requires surgery\"Vitezslav<\/p>\n

Ajax coach Fred Grim gave an update on Vitezslav Jaros’s injury situation<\/p>\n

Ajax head coach Fred Grim has revealed on-loan Liverpool goalkeeper Viteslav Jaros was \u201cin a lot of pain\u201d when he suffered his season-ending injury last week.<\/p>\n

Jaros joined the Amsterdam club last summer after being convinced to sign by former Liverpool coach John Heitinga. After initially struggling at Ajax, and losing his place in the side across October and November, Jaros has firmly established himself as the club\u2019s no.1 goalkeeper since joining.<\/p>\n

He has played 26 times this season, but won\u2019t feature again this term again following a knee injury sustained last Friday<\/a>. Ajax released a statement<\/a> confirming the unfortunate news on Saturday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAjax goalkeeper V\u00edt\u011bzslav Jaro\u0161 has been ruled out for the rest of the season. The Amsterdam club\u2019s shot-stopper sustained a serious knee injury during training today.<\/p>\n

\u201cMedical examinations at the hospital have shown that surgery is required, meaning he will not feature again this season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking before the draw with NEC Nijmegen, Grim, who replaced Heitinga earlier this season, provided a further update. \u201cThis has an impact, let’s put it that way,\u201d said the interim boss.<\/p>\n

Grim provided an update on Jaros’ injury situation<\/p>\n

\u201cNever fun, but we just have to keep going. That’s the reality. He was in a lot of pain,\u201d he said<\/p>\n

\u201cYou still hope it’s not too bad, but it didn’t look good. I’ve spoken to several players. Again, it’s very frustrating. But we have to keep going. Everyone knows that.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Czech stopper joined Liverpool in 2020 and has previously spent time on loan at St Patrick’s Athletic, Notts County, Stockport County and Sturm Graz.<\/p>\n

He has played twice for Liverpool, both coming last season<\/a>. The 24-year-old came off the bench in final stages of a Premier League win over Crystal Palace in October 2024, and a few weeks later played the full 90 minutes in a 3-2 Carabao Cup victory over Brighton & Hove Albion.<\/p>\n

Despite the competition for places at Liverpool, Jaros said in an interview earlier this season<\/a> that he still hopes to on day become Liverpool\u2019s first-choice goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I say I’m satisfied, how can I improve? When I’ll be ready to become Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper \u2014 especially with two formidable competitors like Alisson Becker and Giorgi Mamardashvili \u2014 is hard to predict,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTaking their place isn’t easy. But that’s ultimately the goal.
