During an appearance on\u00a0Jesse Tyler Ferguson\u2019s \u201cDinner\u2019s on Me\u201d podcast<\/a>, the 49-year-old actress opened up about the \u201cintense\u201d set dynamics among the cast and writers.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI think the only reason that I was able to actually even go and do the job was because I was so naive, and I didn\u2019t actually get it,\u201d said Chalke, who replaced the original Becky \u2014 portrayed by Lecy Goranson \u2014 in 1993. \u201cI mean, I got it a little bit. I didn\u2019t really get it in the same way that I would now, in terms of like potentially the pressure cooker that that situation was. Writers got fired, it was like in groups,\u201d she said. \u201cIt was a pressure cooker.\u201d<\/p>\n After the casting change, Chalke said she received mixed reactions.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201c[One person was] like, \u2018I like the first Becky way better,\u2019\u201d she told Ferguson. \u201cAnd I was like, \u2018OK, yeah. She was fantastic. I agree. She was great.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n After playing Dan and Roseanne Conner on \u201cRoseanne\u201d from 1988 to 1998, John Goodman and Barr agreed to do a reboot of the show with the same name.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt was insane.
