Apple has announced that it plans to start manufacturing one of its Mac computers, the Mac mini<\/a>, in the United States starting this year.<\/p>\n

Sabih Khan, Apple\u2019s chief operating officer, shared the development as part of a video interview with The Wall Street Journal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re very excited to tell you that later this year we will be beginning Mac mini manufacturing right here in this space,\u201d Khan tells the Journal during a tour of a Foxconn facility in Houston, Texas.<\/p>\n

When asked how many Mac mini computers Apple makes per year, Khan answers that Apple makes \u201cthousands every week.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOver time, we want to scale Mac mini here to serve our customers in this area,\u201d Khan says about global manufacturing of the desktop computer.<\/p>\n

The Mac mini is currently manufactured in Vietnam and China. Apple has previously pushed the low-volume Mac Pro as Apple\u2019s made-in-America desktop computer, starting in 2013 and continuing<\/a> in 2019.<\/p>\n

The video also shows never-before-seen footage inside GlobalWafers and TSMC facilities located in the Arizona.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Both the Mac mini manufacturing announcement and the WSJ piece<\/a> focused on Apple\u2019s efforts to bring manufacturing to the US are undoubtedly timed with President Trump\u2019s 2026 State of the Union address, scheduled for Tuesday, February 24.<\/p>\n

Apple continues to work around increased costs associated with tariffs<\/a> on imported products.<\/p>\n
