\n\tWarner Bros. was quick to react following the BAFTA Film Awards N-word controversy<\/a> on Sunday but reportedly saw their concerns ignored. <\/p>\n

\n\tAccording to a well-positioned source speaking to Variety, once Tourette\u2019s campaigner John Davidson\u2019s made the involuntary outburst while \u201cSinners\u201d stars Michael B. Jordan and Delroy Lindo presented the first award of the night, execs from the studio immediately raised the issue with BAFTA and requested that the incident be removed from BBC\u2019s time-delayed broadcast going out later that night.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe source also noted that the Warner Bros. execs \u2014\u00a0who were in contact with BAFTA throughout Sunday evening and met with them on Monday \u2014\u00a0had been assured that the request had been passed on.<\/p>\n

\n\tHowever, the broadcast aired with the racial slur not edited out, sparking further outrage, and prompting an apology from BBC. But the BBC\u2019s claim that the producers had been unaware what was said until after it has aired has now been called into question following the source\u2019s account of proceedings. Many commentators online have also cast doubt over how and why such an incident \u2014\u00a0which was audible in the ceremony room \u2014\u00a0would not be immediately relayed to the producers of the TV show. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe incident \u2014\u00a0and the handling of it by both the BBC and BAFTA \u2014\u00a0has sparked a firestorm of anger that continues to reverberate. Late on Monday, BAFTA put out a statement<\/a> in which it said that it took \u201cfull responsibility\u201d for putting its \u201cguests in a very difficult situation and we apologise to all.\u201d It also said it wanted to \u201capologise unreservedly\u201d to Jordan and Lindo. \u201cWe would like to thank Michael and Delroy for their incredible dignity and professionalism,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
