Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence confirmed to Deadline<\/a> that the revival picks up as if the original series ended with the Season 8 finale, and the opening sequence is evidence of that \u2014 with a twist.<\/p>\n

The title sequence for the revival, which you can see above, is set to \u201cSuperman\u201d by Lazlo Bane, which was the opening theme of Seasons 1-8. The \u201cMed School\u201d branded Season 9 used a cover of the song by WAZ for its title sequence.<\/p>\n

As they have done in previous seasons, in the opening, John \u201cJ.D.\u201d Dorian (Zach Braff), Christopher Turk (Donald Faison) and Elliot Reid (Sarah Chalke), now joined by a new class of interns, each walks toward the show\u2019s signature \u201cScrubs\u201d X-ray image.<\/p>\n

In one of the changes \u2014 to reflect the 17 years of medical advances since the end of Scrubs \u2014 instead of placing the physical X-ray image on the screen, J.D. swipes his iPad and the digital image appears.<\/p>\n

In another nod to the characters being older, the sequence opens with J.D. looking at his watch as he and Turk are on the floor. As teased in the trailer for the revival, this is J.D. calling time of death of the duo\u2019s famous Eagle after they collapsed while trying it.<\/p>\n

The first two episodes of Scrubs premiere back-to-back Wednesday, February 25 at 8pm ET\/PT on ABC. Stream next day on Hulu.<\/p>\n

In the new Scrubs, J.D. and Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time: Medicine has changed; interns have changed; but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.<\/p>\n

Braff, Chalke and Faison star and executive produce. Original cast members Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley recur as Carla and Dr. Perry Cox, respectively.<\/p>\n

Additional guest cast includes Vanessa Bayer, Rachel Bilson, Joel Kim Booster, Ava Bunn, Jacob Dudman, Neil Flynn, Lisa Gilroy, David Gridley, Phill Lewis, Robert Maschio, X Mayo, Christa Miller, Layla Mohammadi, Amanda Morrow, Andy Ridings, and Michael James Scott.<\/p>\n

Lawrence, Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer executive produce for Doozer Productions. Aseem Batra serves as executive producer and showrunner; Randall Winston also executive produces. The series is produced by 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios.<\/p>\n
