Landius Wilkerson’s steady climb through the collegiate coaching ranks is taking a significant next rung on the career ladder.<\/p>\n
Multiple sources tell FootballScoop that Wilkerson is departing the Tulane Green Wave to become the new defensive line coach for Ryan Silverfield’s first-year University of Arkansas operation.<\/p>\n
Wilkerson, who in recent years had been on Major Applewhite’s University of South Alabama staff prior to his arrival at Tulane, replaces Marion Hobby at Arkansas. Hobby, a former Tennessee Vols star player and longtime collegiate assistant, exited Arkansas for a job in the NFL.<\/p>\n
An East Tennessee native who coached in the prep ranks in the Volunteer State at McMinn County High School after a playing career at Alabama State, Wilkerson also has coached at NCAA Division III program Huntingdon (Alabama) as well as an extended run at Football Championship Subdivision program Chattanooga.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Arkansas hired Silverfield after the 2025 season to replace the fired Sam Pittman. Silverfield won 50 games atop the Memphis program as replacement to Mike Norvell.\u00a0<\/p>\n
