video solutions company it acquired in 2023 and folded into its production division, Cosm Media (and distinct from the cameras Cosm uses to produce sports broadcasts in their immersive dome venues). The systems capture footage in 10.5K resolution and send feeds to Cosm’s cloud-based production platform, CX Video Hub, providing production crews with multiple, high-resolution vantage points of game action that can be frozen, panned, tilted or zoomed and used either live or on-demand.

Four of the C360 Capture Systems have been installed in each of the NHL’s 32 arenas — one behind each net and one at each blue line. They are the cameras underpinning the NHL’s official blue line reviews and being used by the NHL’s digital team for unique short-form content.

Other use-cases include:

Enhancing the available angles for — and quality of — instant replays.Producing isolated puck/player tracking feeds (via an integration with the NHL EDGE tracking system), which can be used for content or player health and safety monitoring.Logging clips of key plays within a game in a togglable database.Analyzing the performance of game officials (e.g., positioning on the ice, veracity of calls).

The system will be online for north of 1,500 NHL games per season.

“That scale is really quite powerful,” Cosm’s Chief Product & Technology Officer Devin Poolman told SBJ. “There’s days in which we are pushing to the cloud the equivalent of about 450 ultra-high-definition streams simultaneously.”

Poolman declined to discuss the cost of the NHL deployment or pricing for the systems, but said the offering is “designed to be able to scale across different use-cases and different sports, different leagues.”

The NHL and Cosm have been working together to install ultra-high-resolution camera systems in every NHL venue throughout…

[66
6755,385,99
post-490193","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-nhl","tag-hockey","tag-nhl","tag-sports
["GET
