Hoda Kotb is set to stay in Savannah Guthrie\u2019s \u201cToday\u201d seat for an extended period as the search for the star\u2019s mother Nancy Guthrie <\/a>stretches into its fourth grueling week, sources tell Page Six.<\/p>\n

Behind the scenes at the NBC morning show, bosses are dealing not only with the impact of Savannah\u2019s absence, but also with wild \u2013 and hurtful \u2013 rumors about who could take her job, according to insiders.<\/p>\n

Although Kotb, 61, left \u2018Today\u2019 just over a year ago, she returned to Studio 1A <\/a>to rejoin her former colleagues as somewhat of a salve shortly after Savannah\u2019s life was brutally upended.<\/p>\n

Hoda Kotb returned to Studio 1A to co-anchor \u2018Today\u2019 alongside Craig Melvin in the wake of Nancy Guthrie\u2019s disappearance. She\u2019ll be in Savannah Guthrie\u2019s seat for the time being, sources tell Page Six. NBC<\/p>\n

\u201cAt the moment, we\u2019re taking things week by week, day by day,\u201d we\u2019re told. <\/p>\n

\u201cHoda has been a steady hand, and calm presence for the staff.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n

Despite this, there are no plans for Kotb to return full time and join co-anchor Craig Melvin, who replaced her on the show, as she is focused on her lifestyle business, Joy 101, and her family.<\/p>\n

No-one could have expected that one of NBC News\u2019 most loved stars would become part of the biggest news story in the US. Savannah was forced to pull out of hosting the Winter Olympics opening ceremony <\/a>and first week of coverage in Milan \u2013 and also missed her regular spot helming NBC\u2019s \u201cState of the Union\u201d coverage Tuesday night.<\/p>\n

\u2018Today\u2019 stars \u2013 including Carson Daly and Al Roker \u2013 have been wearing yellow ribbons in solidarity with Savannah, whose mother has been missing for more than a month. TODAY<\/p>\n

Hoda was meant to jet to Italy to cover the Olympics, as was Craig, but both stayed in the US <\/a>in the \u201cToday\u201d studio.<\/p>\n

And while some insiders have reported it\u2019s been difficult to keep up morale at such a tumultuous time as they focus on covering a story that is about one of their own, show staffers are tying to \u201ctune out the noise and focus on work,\u201d said an NBC insider.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf anything, this incredibly heartbreaking situation has reinforced the strength of the \u2018Today\u2019 family.<\/p>\n

Savannah remains in Tucson, AZ, as the search for savannahguthrie\/Instagram<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone, from top down is focused on supporting Savannah and her family, and also doing the best job possible, because that\u2019s what she would do. She is just so missed by everyone,\u201d the insider said.<\/p>\n

Savannah, 54, remains in her hometown of Tucson, Ariz., during the ongoing hunt for her 84-year-old mom. As rumors swirled about her future on the show, we revealed that the popular star \u2013 whose multimillion dollar contract is up this year \u2013 will be off \u201cToday\u201d for the foreseeable future.<\/a><\/p>\n

Hours after Savannah released another heartbreaking video Tuesday <\/a>in which she offered a reward of up to $1 million for any help in her mother\u2019s return, the insider added, \u201cWe just hope this video will bring some answers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u201d has always been a cornerstone of NBC News\u2019 revenue, and has brought up to $508 million a year in advertising revenue to the network<\/p>\n

Now ratings have jumped 30 percent over the past few weeks. Both \u201cNightly News\u201d (7.6 million viewers) and \u201cToday\u201d (3.4 million) have scored significant gains compared to the same time last year.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u201d is up 26 percent from 2.69 million for the same period in 2025.
