A founding member of the hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan has died.<\/p>\n

The group posted on X Wednesday<\/a> announcing the death of Oliver \u201cPower\u201d Grant, 52, with the caption \u201cRest in Power, Power.\u201d<\/p>\n

The post included a video interview with Grant talking about the founding of the group.<\/p>\n

No details were shared on Grant\u2019s cause of death.<\/p>\n

Grammy-winning rapper Method Man, also a founding member of the group, mentioned Grant\u2019s death Wednesday on Instagram<\/a> with a photo of the two of them and the caption \u201cParadise my Brother safe travels!! … Bruh I am no ok..\u201d<\/p>\n

GZA, aka \u201cThe Genius\u201d of the group, said Wu-Tang wouldn\u2019t have happened without Grant.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe couldn\u2019t have done it without him,\u201d GZA stated in an Instagram post<\/a>. \u201cWu wouldn\u2019t have come to fruition without Power. His passing is a profound loss to us all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grant\u2019s death comes during the same week that Wu-Tang Clan<\/a> was named a 2026 nominee for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame<\/a> .<\/p>\n

While Grant didn\u2019t rap on the group\u2019s records, he was the main force behind Wu-Tang\u2019s clothing line, Wu Ware<\/a>, and the founding of the group.<\/p>\n

\u201cWu Wear was pretty much like our entry in the fashion biz, but before I was in Wu Wear, I was making and marketing the first Wu records with RZA,\u201d Grant stated in a 2001 interview<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t a rapper, but the thrill of being a part of going and where they went, it was the inspiration for how it ended up that lead us all to going back, soaking up what we\u2019d absorbed and coming back with \u2018Protect Ya Neck\u2019\u201d, Grant said<\/a> about Wu-Tang Clan\u2019s December 1992 debut single.<\/p>\n
