Now that the 2026 Winter Olympics are over, many people are prying into the personal lives of Olympic gold medalists. For figure skaters Ilia Malinin and Amber Glenn, it\u2019s no exception.<\/p>\n

The two figure skaters competed together in the team event for Team USA. Even before the Olympics, the two had an incredibly close bond in and out of the rink alongside Alysa Liu. After Amber Glenn\u2019s disappointing loss, Ilia Malinin gave her some sage advice after his own faulty performance. \u201cI\u2019ve told her that, you know, this is something that we all go through,\u201d he says. \u201cIt\u2019s, you know, it\u2019s not always a pleasant feeling, but it\u2019s something that we need to embrace and we have to move on from no matter what, because no matter what happens, we always have to get up and go do it again.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the Olympics, a video<\/a> of Ilia dancing in the club with a blonde girl went viral on TikTok. Some people speculated that it was Amber Glenn due to the similarities.<\/p>\n

Ilia Malinin is not dating Amber Glenn. The 26-year-old figure skater cleared her name in the comments of the TikTok. \u201cAYO PEOPLE THAT\u2019S NOT ME,\u201d\u00a0Glenn wrote\u00a0in the comments section of the video. \u201cIM LITERALLY MID COMPETITION.\u201d<\/p>\n

Malinin has been open about how every athlete has been supportive of him ever since he placed eighth in the men\u2019s free skate. \u201cSo many different athletes, you know, friends, teammates, even just randoms too. They\u2019re all there for me,\u201d he says. \u201cAnd even people outside from the village. Just so much love, so much support and just such an honor.\u201d<\/p>\n

Right before the 2026 Winter Olympics, Malinin emphasized that he\u2019s not focusing on relationships. In an interview with\u00a0People<\/a>, he said, \u201cI want to put my priorities into my career first and just see where that takes me.\u201d<\/p>\n

In 2023, Ilia Malinin was under fire<\/a> for answering a question about his sexuality. In an Instagram Live, a fan asked, \u201cAre you straight?\u201d\u00a0Malanin replied, \u201cBro, you know, let\u2019s be honest, I can\u2019t be straight anymore because I need those (artistic) component scores up, you know. I gotta say that I\u2019m not straight, that way my components are gonna go up.\u201d<\/p>\n

He later apologized for the comments on Twitter (now known as X): \u201cI want to truly apologize to everyone for my \u2018teenage\u2019 behavior and I am aware that this mistake can\u2019t really be undone. \u2026 I hope that everyone understands I mean no hate to anyone. Thank you all for understanding this mistake and making it known to me that I made a mistake.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amber Glenn<\/a> is the first openly LGBTQ+ member of USA\u2019s Figure Skating team. She identifies as pansexual and bisexual and talked about her experience coming out as an athlete. \u201cThe fear of not being accepted is a huge struggle for me,\u201d Glenn told NBC 5 Dallas Fort Worth<\/a>. \u201cBeing perceived as \u2018just a phase\u2019 or \u2018indecisive\u2019 is a common thing for bisexual\/pansexual women. I don\u2019t want to shove my sexuality in people\u2019s faces, but I also don\u2019t want to hide who I am.\u201d<\/p>\n
