{"id":493263,"date":"2026-02-27T08:10:31","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T08:10:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/493263\/"},"modified":"2026-02-27T08:10:31","modified_gmt":"2026-02-27T08:10:31","slug":"sand-point-teen-found-3-days-after-going-missing-in-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/493263\/","title":{"rendered":"Sand Point teen found 3 days after going missing in lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">SAND POINT, Alaska (KTUU) &#8211; A teenage boy who was last seen Monday when the canoe he was in tipped over has been found by a dive team in a lake near Sand Point, according to a person familiar with the situation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Alaska\u2019s News Source confirmed with the person, who is close to the search efforts, that the dive team found 15-year-old Kaipo Kaminanga deceased Thursday in Red Cove Lake, located a short drive from the town of Sand Point on the Aleutian Island chain.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Kaminanga was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alaskasnewssource.com\/2026\/02\/26\/sand-point-community-reeling-after-teen-goes-missing-after-falling-out-canoe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.alaskasnewssource.com\/2026\/02\/26\/sand-point-community-reeling-after-teen-goes-missing-after-falling-out-canoe\/\">last seen canoeing<\/a> with three other friends on Monday when the boat tipped over.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A search and rescue operation ensued shortly after.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Alaska Dive Search Rescue and Recovery Team posted on Facebook Thursday night that they were able to \u201clocate and recover\u201d Kaminanga at around 5 p.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe are glad we could bring closure to his family, friends and community,\u201d the post said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">This is a breaking news story and will be updated when more details become available.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">See a spelling or grammar error?
