A water main break in Passaic flooded the street causing a messy situation on Friday morning.<\/p>\n
The 12- inch water main broke around 3 a.m. on Passaic Street at Wall Street.<\/p>\n
The Passaic Valley Water Commission was on the scene to assess the situation.<\/p>\n
Crews were working to shut off the water so they could repair the water main.<\/p>\n
NewsCopter 7 was over the scene around 6:30 a.m. and water was still seeping from the street.<\/p>\n
Mayor Hector Carlos Lora took to Facebook Live<\/a> to provide an update to residents.<\/p>\n He warned that once water was shut off, water pressure would be low. He urged people to get ready early for their day before that happened.<\/p>\n Mayor Lora also said that crews were salting the road, which was already experiencing icy conditions.<\/p>\n Police will also monitor students walking to school Friday morning.<\/p>\n Affected streets included Passaic, Wall, 6th, and 8th streets.<\/p>\n Recent temperature swings may have played a factor in the break, but the official cause is under investigation.<\/p>\n ———- Submit a tip or story idea to Eyewitness News<\/p>\n
