CNBC anchor Sara Eisen surprised co-hosts of\u00a0\u201cThe View\u201d\u00a0Thursday by saying President Donald Trump\u2019s policies<\/a> have actually been a boon for the stock market.<\/p>\n

Eisen, who was filling in for co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin, usually serves as the host of CNBC\u2019s \u201cSquawk on the Street.\u201d <\/p>\n

On Thursday, however, co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked her, as an expert on the subject, about the degree to which presidents affect the stock market<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do want to ask you about the market because it seems that the market doesn\u2019t really pay attention to who is president,\u201d Whoopi said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe market does what it does.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cActually, the market likes who\u2019s president, I think,\u201d Eisen replied. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of upbeat sentiment from companies and from investors about policies that are helpful for growth \u2014 you know, deregulation.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about Trump\u2019s tariffs, one of his most famous and most controversial policies, Eisen said,\u00a0\u201cThe tariffs<\/a>\u00a0usually wouldn\u2019t be helpful for growth, but they haven\u2019t been as bad as everybody expected.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cIt helps for rich people,\u201d co-host Joy Behar said. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t help poor people or middle-income people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"FiveCNBC anchor Sara Eisen told \u201cThe View\u201d panel that President Trump\u2019s policies have actually been a boon for the stock market. FOX News<\/p>\n

Eisen stood her ground, arguing they were nowhere near as bad as people anticipated.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, fair. But, you know, when the tariffs were announced, everyone thought it would be like massive inflation and the market would fall apart and the economy would fall apart.\u00a0And it hasn\u2019t.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

She added further that \u201ccompanies have absorbed it. You know what? They\u2019ve never been more profitable right now. But, also, they like the tax bill.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s right, companies and investors. So it\u2019s like a K-curve, right?\u201d Hostin asked. <\/p>\n

\"SaraEisen, who currently hosts CNBC\u2019s \u201cSquawk on the Street,\u201d filled in for co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin. FOX News<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, if you\u2019re an investor, or you\u2019re wealthy, then it\u2019s great. If you\u2019re middle class or under the middle class, then it\u2019s not good at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eisen agreed it is indeed better for investors or people of higher income.<\/p>\n

\u201cA hundred percent,\u201d Eisen agreed, but she argued that this should be a time for more Americans to get involved in the stock market.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut what I would say to that is that, you know, it helps to have exposure to stocks. Like, more people should have exposure to stocks,\u201d Eisen said. <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd that is something-\u201c<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re getting paid minimum wage, you don\u2019t have exposure to stocks,\u201d Hostin interjected.<\/p>\n

As Eisen got into a crosstalk back-and-forth with Hostin, Whoopi appeared conciliatory to Eisen.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, here\u2019s what we\u2019re doing. Sorry about that. I\u2019m sorry about that,\u201d Whoopi said. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut it was interesting because it\u2019s very rare that we get to sit with a financial person.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cKeep it coming.
