Exactly as I first said<\/a>, now YouTuber John Campea is publicly predicting James Gunn won\u2019t stick around once Paramount takes control of Warner Bros. Discovery, which Paramount has said is expected to close later this year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Campea makes it clear that he hasn\u2019t spoken to Gunn and this is just his opinion. <\/p>\n

But he says he\u2019s \u201c100% sure\u201d Gunn will go to WBD CEO David Zaslav and ask to be let go from his contract before the end of the year, because Gunn \u201cisn\u2019t working for those guys,\u201d and that Zaslav will let him exit (via YouTube<\/a>): <\/p>\n

\u201cI 100% guarantee, again, I haven\u2019t spoken to James Gunn. I\u2019m just telling you what I think. But I am 100% sure that before the end of the year, James Gunn is going to go to David Zaslav and says and say, \u2018It\u2019s been nice, but there\u2019s no way I\u2019m working for those guys. So, can you please let me out of my contract?\u2019 And I think David Zaslav will let him out of his contract.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campea then claims Gunn ends up back at Marvel as \u201cKevin Feige\u2019s heir apparent\u201d:<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then I think he\u2019s going to end up back at Marvel, and he will become Kevin Feige\u2019s heir apparent to take over Marvel after Kevin Feige finally goes. That\u2019s what I think is going to happen. That\u2019s the road map that I see happening here. But there is no way James\u2026 I just can\u2019t imagine a scenario that James Gunn \u2013 because we all know how James Gunn feels about Donald Trump \u2013 whether you think he\u2019s right to feel that way or whether you think he\u2019s wrong to feel that way, we all know how James Gunn feels about Donald Trump, and Ellison\u2019s are Donald Trump\u2019s little f-ck toys. So I just don\u2019t see any reality in which James Gunn stays. He\u2019s gonna quit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campea\u2019s core argument: Gunn vs. the Ellisons<\/p>\n

Campea\u2019s take is simple and follows what I said, as everybody knows how Gunn feels about Donald Trump. <\/p>\n

Campea paints the Ellisons as Trump-aligned, which was previously reported by Variety and many other trade sites. <\/p>\n

That\u2019s why Campea says he can\u2019t picture Gunn staying once Paramount is effectively in charge.<\/p>\n

The Trump factor keeps landing on Superman<\/p>\n

As I previously pointed out, the politics got louder the day Superman hit, when the official White House account posted the Trump-as-Superman meme using the classic \u201cTruth. Justice. The American Way.\u201d <\/p>\n

That\u2019s no coincidence.<\/p>\n

Gunn already has a public anti-Trump record<\/p>\n

This is also why the \u201cGunn quits\u201d speculation doesn\u2019t feel random.<\/p>\n

Gunn has been publicly anti-Trump for years, including blunt attacks during Trump\u2019s first term.<\/p>\n

That history is exactly what Campea is leaning on when he says he can\u2019t imagine Gunn choosing to work under Ellison.<\/p>\n

Why \u201cMarvel heir apparent\u201d talk is even on the table<\/p>\n

Campea\u2019s Marvel angle is pure speculation, but the logic is obvious: Gunn\u2019s biggest mainstream wins were at Marvel with the three Guardians of the Galaxy movies and producing Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. <\/p>\n

Gunn has existing relationships there, and if he leaves DC in a high-profile ownership change, Hollywood will line up for him.<\/p>\n

So Campea\u2019s roadmap is that Gunn asks out, Gunn exits clean, and Marvel becomes the landing spot as the long-term successor behind Kevin Feige.<\/p>\n

What this means for DC right now<\/p>\n

If Paramount keeps Gunn, DC still has a problem: the conversation becomes \u201cis he staying?\u201d instead of \u201cwhat\u2019s the next DCU win?\u201d<\/p>\n

And if Gunn thinks the brand is about to get shoved into nonstop political crossfire, quitting early lets him control the narrative and avoid being the guy who \u201cgot fired\u201d after the merger.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve been told from the get-go<\/a> that Gunn is out with the sale of WBD, that the SnyderVerse is fully back in play, and eventually another DC reboot will happen.<\/p>\n

What about Man of Tomorrow?<\/p>\n

Gunn is due to start filming soon on his follow-up to Superman with Man of Tomorrow. Assuming it takes about six months to film, that would align with the Paramount-WBD deal going through.<\/p>\n

Gunn recently teased he\u2019s in pre-production.
