Imagine looking across the aisle and realizing the most interesting passenger is actually a very polite dog. That is exactly the scene in this Reel by @merlotthegoldie. This video shows a Golden Retriever during a flight who is very busy making a new friend.

Merlot is a frequent flyer with a fluffy passport. And he usually just sleeps the second the plane moves. But something about the person filming caught his eye. He isn’t barking or being extra. Just sitting there and watching, waiting for the perfect moment to be social.

Golden Retriever loves to stare at new friends he makes on a flight

The clip opens mid-air with Merlot positioned perfectly in the middle and aisle seats. He just locks eyes with the camera, and he does not blink, not even once. The in-video text says, “When you meet a friend on your flight…” It is so relatable. Most of us just get stuck next to someone who snores. But this lucky person got a “great flight partner” instead.

Merlot even crosses his paws to stay classy. He has that classic, gentle nature where he loves everyone instantly. But he also wants to keep his “cool” tag intact. Owners say in his voice, “We stared at each other the whole time,” and the internet is losing it. Over 22.2K people liked the clip.

One viewer commented, “I’m sorry but I would want to pet him all flight long!” Another person lamented about their own bad luck. “Why don’t I meet a friend like that on a flight! Some of the people I’ve sat by have been a nightmare.” This video of the Golden Retriever on his flight is basically a travel goal at this point.

Merlot is a total pro at this. He usually watches the safety instructions and gets hyped for business class seats. But friendships really do start like this sometimes. Especially when you’re that cute. He is just a cutie living his best life at 30,000 feet. No drama, just vibes and intense eye contact.
