AUSTIN, Texas \u2014 \u00a0Three people were killed and at least 14 others were injured after a shooting early Sunday morning in downtown Austin, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Austin police responded to reports of gunfire at Buford\u2019s bar on West Sixth Street around 1:59 a.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said three officers returned fire, killing a male suspect. \u00a014 patients were located at the scene and taken to nearby hospitals, and 2 victims were pronounced dead on scene. Three of those hospitalized remain in critical condition.<\/p>\n
Federal investigators are assisting local law enforcement, and police said the evidence scene will take several hours to process.<\/p>\n
Austin Mayor Watson said he will continue to update the public throughout the day as more details become available.<\/p>\n
