\n\tCara Delevingne<\/a> was first introduced to L\u2019Oreal Paris\u2019 Women of Worth program a couple of years ago when she attended its annual gala for the first time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt was one of the most inspiring, touching, just wonderful evenings that I really didn\u2019t expect,\u201d she says. \u201cI know how incredible L\u2019Oreal is at supporting causes, especially causes that I care about, but this one in particular really stuck with me. I think I cried, laughed and had some amazing conversations at dinner.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI think especially right now, there\u2019s so much bad news that there aren\u2019t conversations around people who are doing great, amazing things and uplifting those people and highlighting those people,\u201d Delevingne continues. \u201cI think it is something\u2026we need so badly.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSince its launch in 2005, Women of Worth\u202fhas grown into a nationwide movement,\u202frecognizing\u202f200 women by providing them with mentorship and grants, community and national visibility for their grassroots efforts.<\/p>\n

\n\tDelevingne has teamed up with L\u2019Oreal \u2014 she\u2019s a L\u2019Or\u00e9al Paris ambassador\u00a0 \u2014 ahead of International Women\u2019s Day on March 8 to talk about the importance of uplifting women\u2019s voices and causes.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe model and actress is currently focusing on issues related to mental health and marginalized communities. \u201cWe\u2019re laughing and joking around a lot right now by saying, \u2018Everything\u2019s on fire,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s become this dark humor around the fact that no one\u2019s feeling great\u2026Mental health is so important right now, being able to do good for yourself so you can do good by other people.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen she\u2019s having a \u201cshitty day,\u201d Delevingne will scroll GoFundMe pages: \u201cI like seeing an actual dent that you can make to help someone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tConversations around mental health must include discussions about social media, Delevingne says. \u201cThat algorithm is not meant for good things,\u201d she says. \u201cI haven\u2019t gotten to the point where I\u2019ve deleted Instagram off my phone yet, but I\u2019m constantly working on self-control because I find myself going on there without even realizing I am\u2026It\u2019s terrifying.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe works hard on course correcitng her algorithm. \u201cI do follow a lot of accounts about doing good things and good news,\u201d Delevingne says. \u201cThere\u2019s this one account for good news about women. That always makes me happy because I feel like when the pendulum is swinging so far the other way \u2014 women\u2019s rights are getting taken away, people of color or the queer community \u2014 we have to try and push it the other way. If I\u2019m constantly in fear, then I just don\u2019t leave the house, which then nothing is ever going to get done.\u201d<\/p>\n
