Three people were killed and 14 others were wounded when a\u00a0gunman opened fire\u00a0<\/a>at a packed bar in downtown Austin early Sunday \u2014 and the FBI\u2019s Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the attack.<\/p>\n

Police responded to reports of a male shooting at\u00a0Buford\u2019s Backyard Beer Garden \u2014 near the University of Texas-Austin \u2014 just before 2 a.m., officials said at\u00a0a press conference.<\/a><\/p>\n

Three officers who were patrolling the entertainment district responded to the scene in 57 seconds, confronted the gunman and \u201creturned fire,\u201d killing the unidentified suspect.<\/p>\n

The gunman reportedly stormed the bar with a handgun and an assault rifle,\u00a0according to the Austin-American Statesman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The FBI\u2019s Joint Terrorism Task Force has joined the investigation into the mass shooting \u2014 indicating that the motive of the attack could be related to terrorism.<\/p>\n

\u201cOfficers immediately transitioned, came over East 6th to West 6th Street and were faced with the individual with a gun,\u201d Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Three victims died at the scene.<\/p>\n

First responders, who arrived to assist in less than a minute, rushed 14 other patients to nearby hospitals.<\/p>\n

Three victims are listed in critical condition, officials said.<\/p>\n

No one has been identified so far.<\/p>\n

Just hours before the shooting, the popular bar\u00a0shared videos on its Instagram story<\/a>\u00a0showing the bar jam-packed young revelers drinking and dancing to a DJ.<\/p>\n

The clips show the unsuspecting crowd belting out Miley Cyrus\u2019 \u201cParty in the USA\u201d and Kelly Clarkson\u2019s \u201cSince You Been Gone\u201d as they\u2019re blasted by a smoke machine.<\/p>\n

The bar, which is open between 12 p.m. and 2 a.m. on the weekends, was gearing up to close for the night when gunfire erupted.<\/p>\n

Officials said they will release more information as it becomes available throughout the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur hearts go out to the people that are victims of this and I want to reiterate my thanks to our public safety officers and officials that so rapidly were on the scene, they definitely saved lives,\u201d Austin Mayor Kirk Watson said.<\/p>\n

Buford\u2019s Backyard Beer Garden did not immediately respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

A motive behind the shooting was not revealed.<\/p>\n

The conditions of the other 11 wounded victims were not announced<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a situation that we are going to be talking about probably all day,\u201d Davis added.<\/p>\n

The Austin Police Department told community members searching for loved ones who were at the shooting to contact the APD\u2019s Victim Services Unit at 512-974-5037.<\/p>\n
