Dax Shepard hinted that he wasn\u2019t at the 2026 SAG Actor Awards <\/a>to support the evening\u2019s host, his wife Kristen Bell, because he was scheduled for a colonoscopy. <\/p>\n

The \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d podcaster revealed he was apparently having the procedure in an Instagram Story post earlier in the day Sunday \u2014 just hours before the star-studded event was set to take place.<\/p>\n

Shepard shared a screenshot of a text message exchange with the hashtag, \u201c#colonoscopyprep.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cClear liquids today\u2026..until 8am Monday Morning,\u201d the text from someone named Edward read. \u201cThen water only (includes coffee\/tea with no additive\/no calories) until 10am Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen nothing by mouth; arrival 11:15. Copy?\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cBaby Mama\u201d actor, 51, replied by joking that he was currently \u201ceating a steak smothered in seeds and nuts.\u201d <\/p>\n

Despite his absence, Shepard gave Bell, 45, a sweet shout-out ahead of the big night in an Instagram post Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, he posted about the procedure. <\/p>\n

The \u201cFrozen\u201d voice actress opened the evening with a monologue at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, with a cheeky song poking fun at Hollywood stage names.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the evening, the \u201cNobody Wants This\u201d star made clear that she wouldn\u2019t be making fun of anyone in the audience. <\/p>\n

\u201cFor me, hosting is not roasting,\u201d she told Netflix on the red carpet just moments before she took the stage. \u201cIt\u2019s not for me. If I\u2019m going to roast anyone, it\u2019s going to be me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cVeronica Mars\u201d alum left little to the imagination in a see-through beaded purple gown by Georges Hobeika.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time she has hosted the Awards show, delivering monologues in 2018 as well as last year.<\/p>\n

Bell previously hinted that she might be singing during the monologue when she announced earlier this year that she would hosting the event. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed hosting the show every time, so it was an easy decision to come back for a third,\u201d Bell said in a statement <\/a>in January. <\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I\u2019m most excited for is the fact that I\u2019ll be doing what every actor does best \u2026 sing :),\u201d she teased.<\/p>\n

While Bell attended purely as a host this year, she was nominated for a trophy at last year\u2019s SAG Awards for her role in her Netflix rom-com. <\/p>\n
