His status has been complicated by offseason knee surgery.<\/p>\n<p>JoeBucsFan.com reports that David <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.joebucsfan.com\/2026\/03\/lavonte-david-had-knee-surgery-after-the-2025-season\/#google_vignette\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">underwent arthroscopic knee surgery<\/a> after the 2025 season. The knee was drained on a weekly basis during the season.<\/p>\n<p>The surgery was deemed a success (as they all are), and David rehabbed under the team\u2019s supervision.<\/p>\n<p>The Buccaneers hope to bring David back for a 15th season. He\u2019s had an amazing run at one of the most physically demanding positions in the sport.<\/p>\n<p>David said last month that he\u2019s \u201c<a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsports.com\/nfl\/profootballtalk\/rumor-mill\/news\/lavonte-david-is-undecided-on-retirement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">undecided<\/a>\u201d on whether to play or retire.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David is due to become a free agent next week.
