{"id":500220,"date":"2026-03-03T00:57:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T00:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/500220\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T00:57:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T00:57:10","slug":"tiger-woods-still-isnt-playing-will-sit-out-tgl-regular-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/500220\/","title":{"rendered":"Tiger Woods Still Isn\u2019t Playing, Will Sit Out TGL Regular Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"inline-text-0\" class=\"mt-[18px] md:mt-0 mb-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6m\">Tiger Woods is not in the lineup for his TGL Jupiter Links team on Tuesday night, meaning the 15-time major champion who is recovering from October back surgery will go the entire indoor league regular season without playing.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-1\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6p\">Woods, one of the founders of the second-year endeavor, has been present at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., for his team\u2019s matches, including Sunday night\u2019s loss to Rory McIlroy\u2019s Boston Common team.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-2\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6s\">But he has been unable to compete in any of the team\u2019s four matches to date and there was hope he might take part in the final regular-season match Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-4\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"6y\">The league has a playoff format that takes the top four teams and Woods\u2019s team has a chance to make it with a win Tuesday, which means it\u2019s possible he could play when the playoffs begin March 17.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-5\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"71\">Woods also skipped Monday\u2019s Seminole Golf Club pro-member event which annually boasts an all-star cast of players. McIlroy was among those scheduled to play in the one-day outing where Woods played last year prior to an Achilles injury that knocked him out for the year.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-6\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"74\">In October, Woods announced that he had undergone disk replacement surgery, a seventh back procedure.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-7\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"77\">Two weeks ago at the Genesis Invitational, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.si.com\/golf\/tiger-woods-gives-intriguing-update-playing-masters\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Woods did not rule out a return at the Masters<\/a> and also hinted at playing PGA Tour Champions.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-8\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7a\">\u201cMy body has been through a lot,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s just one of those things where it&#8217;s each and every day, I keep trying, I keep progressing, I keep working on it, trying to get stronger, trying to get more endurance in this body and trying to get it at a level at which I can play at the highest level again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-9\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7d\">Asked if he\u2019s hitting full shots, Woods said: \u201cI\u2019m able to. Not well every day, but I can hit them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-10\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7g\">And when asked if he\u2019d ruled out playing in the Masters in April, Woods said. \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-11\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7j\">\u201cI\u2019ve had a fused back [2017] and now a disk replacement, so it\u2019s challenging,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd now I entered a new decade [Woods turned 50 in December] and so that number is starting to sink in and has us thinking about the opportunity to be able to play in a cart.<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-12\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7m\">\u201cThat\u2019s something that, as I said, I won\u2019t do out here on this tour because I don\u2019t believe in it. But on the Champions Tour, that\u2019s certainly an opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"inline-text-13\" class=\"my-[18px] [&amp;_a]:text-primary my-f-1.5\" q:key=\"0\" q:id=\"7p\">Max Homa, Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner will play for his team Tuesday night against The Bay lineup of Ludvig Aberg, Min Woo Lee and Wyndham Clark.
