{"id":500299,"date":"2026-03-03T01:52:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-03T01:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/500299\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T01:52:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T01:52:09","slug":"seattle-seahawks-tender-2-exclusive-rights-free-agents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us\/500299\/","title":{"rendered":"Seattle Seahawks tender 2 exclusive rights free agents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Seattle Seahawks are hanging onto a pair of role players from their Super Bowl 60-winning squad.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sports.mynorthwest.com\/nfl\/seattle-seahawks\/david-montgomery-lions-nfl-trades-texans\/1840829\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">NFL Trades: Lions ship out RB Montgomery; Browns add an OT<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Seahawks announced Monday afternoon that they have tendered contracts to their two exclusive rights free agents: safety Ty Okada and running back George Holani.<\/p>\n<p>Exclusive rights free agents are players with less than three accrued seasons on an expiring contract. If their current team tenders them a one-year contract, the players then cannot negotiate with other teams.<\/p>\n<p>Both Okada and Holani joined the Seahawks in recent years as undrafted free agents from colleges in nearby states. Okada was signed in 2023 out of Montana State, while Holani joined Seattle in 2024 out of Boise State.<\/p>\n<p>After playing in nine games combined for Seattle from 2023-24, Okada carved out a key role in Seattle\u2019s defense in 2025, playing 17 games with 11 starts in the regular season. He recorded an interception, six passes defensed, 1.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, 65 combined tackles and a fumble recovery. He also appeared in all three of Seattle\u2019s playoff games, making two combined tackles.<\/p>\n<p>Holani, who like Okada is 26 years old, played in 11 games in the regular season with 73 rushing yards and a touchdown on 22 carries, and two catches for 15 yards. He also had 10 yards on five carries in two playoff games, plus four catches for 34 yards.<\/p>\n<p>The NFL\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/operations.nfl.com\/gameday\/nfl-schedule\/2026-important-nfl-dates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">free agency period<\/a> begins with three days of \u201clegal tampering\u201d at 9 a.m. next Monday, March 9, when clubs are permitted to contact and enter into contract negotiations with free agents from other teams.
