These upgrades could allow users who have been using rivals like OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT or Google\u2019s Gemini to quickly copy the data their preferred AI has collected on them and bring it over to Anthropic\u2019s chatbot. That way, they don\u2019t have to \u201cstart over\u201d teaching Claude the context and history their previous chatbot already knows.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">The option to import and export memories from Claude has been available since October, when Anthropic also rolled out the option for users to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/news\/804124\/anthropic-claude-ai-memory-upgrade-all-subscribers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">turn on Claude\u2019s memory<\/a>. Up until now, the memory feature was only available to users on paid Claude subscriptions, but now all Claude users can turn it on by going into \u201csettings\u201d then \u201ccapabilities.\u201d This menu is also where users can find the new memory importing tool, which has users copy a pre-written prompt into their previous AI then copy the output from that prompt back into Claude\u2019s importing tool.<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1ymtmqpi _17nnmdy1 _17nnmdy0 _1xwtict1\">Anthropic is introducing the upgraded memory importing tool as Claude is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/report\/874308\/anthropic-claude-code-opus-hype-moment\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">seeing a rise in popularity<\/a>, driven by tools like Claude Code and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/ai-artificial-intelligence\/883707\/anthropic-claude-cowork-updates\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Claude Cowork<\/a>.
